DU and Firefox browser
Anybody else have an issue with the Firefox browser, as far as DU is concerned. By this I mean, when I log into DU using Firefox, it's hit and miss whether or not my user account will be recognized. I'm assuming DU leaves a cookie on my system for my user name. Anyway, like I said, it's 50-50 whether or not I'll be logged in. The other half of the time it says "First time visitor?" on DU's site. What I end up doing is closing down the browser and starting it back up again. Then it's another 50-50 shot again. If I get too frustrated, I go over to Internet Explorer and my cookie is ALWAYS recognized when I use IE.

Anyway, anybody else experiencing this issue?

that I use for my firewall. Windows XP firewall is turned off.

12. Hmmm...I always thought the hardware router was good enough
and better than the XP firewall. After doing a little Googling, I see that a lot of people use both.

Well, per your suggestion I turned on my Windows XP firewall. We'll see what happens. That, combined with NAV 2005 Professional, Adaware, spybot, and Microsoft's Beta spyware program, and I should be fairly safe.

I actually build and service PC's for a living, but the security end isn't my specialty.

4. I wish I knew how to help you
I have been using Firefox on DU for a long time now, and have not had any problems with the cookies.

Are you clearing your cookies out often? That might be the issue...I would go in and find the DU cookie, and save it somewhere else, so when you clear cookies, you can put it back in.

6. I use Firefox.

I had this problem when I first tried it on DU, but I don't anymore.

Try this:

Log out of DU.

Delete all your cookies from DU.

Shut down Firefox, then start it back up again.

Log back into DU, and select the "remain logged in" box when you log in.

14. There's an extension called Cookie Culller
It lets you control your cookies -- mark some to be saved between sessions, have the rest deleted automatically, or any other setup that suits you.
