2. I don't have any, my dear JimmyJazz.....
Is this pic of you? I'm thinking it is...I know we saw you in the Olympics, but I don't remember it specifically...

It was a very long time ago, IIRC.......

I'm not sure how to adequately express this...but I'm so happy to be your friend, and it has nothing to do with your stardom...

I do hope you believe me...as this is the truth...

Don't ask me why I'm being so contemplative tonight...I don't know...

It's just the way I am tonight...

4. That is Olga Korbut making history at the 1972 games in Munich
Such an element had never been performed by anyone before. The unfortunate outcome was the anorexic/pixie gymnast of the 1980's and 1990's - until that time, competitive gymnasts were in their early twenties and were normal height and weight.

5. Well now, there's something I didn't know..big surprise!
I was telling my husband about your thread yesterday, and I mentioned your gymnastic past...and he said what you just did...how gymnasts were anorexic and teenaged...

But we'd thought that this was always the case...until just now, when you gave me the complete history...

Nothing like getting it from the horse's mouth, so to speak!

Thanks!

8. Here's a picture of the winners from the 1968 Olympics -
note the presence of breasts and their age - they are all in their early twenties. This was only four years before Olga Korbut.

17. I remember three memorable pictures from the 1968 Winter and
Summer Olympics: Peggy Fleming winning her gold medal in figure skating in Grenoble in a chautreuse skating dress that her mother made, Bob Beamon's extraordinary long jump record in Mexico City and the two black American track and field athletes, sorry, I can't for the life of me remember their names, giving the black power salute on the medal stand in Mexico City.

As for the agony of defeat, I'll never forget the look on Brian Orser's face when he realized in Calgary, 1988 that he had lost the Olympic figure skating gold to Brian Boitano. If I had been a judge at that competition, I would have given both of them the gold medal. They were both outstanding skaters and both deserved the gold in my book.
