6. Rock The Casbah
Now the king told the boogie men
You have to let that raga drop
The oil down the desert way
Has been shakin’ to the top
The sheik he drove his cadillac
He went a’ cruisnin’ down the ville
The muezzin was a’ standing
On the radiator grille

Chorus
The shareef don’t like it
Rockin’ the casbah
Rock the casbah
The shareef don’t like it
Rockin’ the casbah
Rock the casbah

By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that crazy casbah sound
But the bedouin they brought out
The electric camel drum
The local guitar picker
Got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the shareef
Had cleared the square
They began to wail

Chorus

Now over at the temple
Oh! they really pack ’em in
The in crowd say it’s cool
To dig this chanting thing
But as the wind changed direction
The temple band took five
The crowd caught a wiff
Of that crazy casbah jive

Chorus

The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the casbah way

As soon as the shareef was
Chauffeured outta there
The jet pilots tuned to
The cockpit radio blare

As soon as the shareef was
Outta their hair
The jet pilots wailed

Chorus

He thinks it’s not kosher
Fundamentally he can’t take it.
You know he really hates it.

93. aw JJ
:grouphug:

Everytime I hear his version of Redemption Song on his last Mescaleros album, I get teary. ( actually the whole album affects me that way)

Did you know him well? Or have I missed that story? He always sounded like such a cool guy, and I love those stories of his being a sweetheart at his "public" school. I think it is so unfair to have lost him, there was so much more cool stuff he would have done.

( I actually have comtemplated getting a Joe and Joey RIP bumper sticker... not sure if there is one.) I do have the Joey Ramone memorial t.. I should get one for Joe.

(ok, I'm done mourning my punk heroes for a while. :) )

44. I think almost all are my favourite
'Silicon on Sapphire' and 'Street Parade' may edge out but then I think of the 4 different versions of 'This Is Radio Clash' I have on vinyl, or the 'Mustapha Dance' come to mind and when I saw this thread 'Clampdown' popped into my head, but I love 'Safe European Home,' 'Justice Tonight/Kick it Over' and 'Stay Free' as well as 'White Riot,' however 'Julie's in the Drug Squad' is great and so is 'Something about England' along with 'Lost in the Supermarket,' and 'Clash City Rockers' but then I remember 'Pressure Drop,' 'Innoculated City' and 'Bored with the USA' of course 'Brand New Cadillac,' 'Ivan meets GI Joe' and 'Ghetto Defendant' are right up in the top choices, but I can't forget 'Washington Bullets' or 'Know your Rights' or 'Rebel Waltz' and I could not overlook 'Junkie Slip,' 'Train in Vain,' the fabulous 'Drug Stabbing Time' and 'Kingston Advice,' and 'London's Burning,' 'Rudie Can't Fail' 'Lover's Rock' and 'All the Young Punks' are hard to pass up but I can not overlook 'Janie Jones,' 'Sean Flynn' or Jimmy Jazz.' I think I might have missed a few of my faves in there, but that's a start.

On a good day can even tell Iberian from Italian - so give me a wee bit of slack on the patchy parts of my musical knowledge (plus aren't left-wingers supposed to be extreme elitists, a freeper once told me so).

I knew this was the wrong place to post the question anyhow.

But ever since I got my belly button pierced and watched folks getting tattooed, I just don't think I could do it.

The belly button was enough for me!

:loveya:

72. I admit the tat was rougher than the piercing, but I thought the
piercing was nothing :)

74. Red Angel Dragnet
...along with a few other tunes from Combat Rock, was a sing-a-long favorite in a Northern Wisconsin bar called the Header. Interesting place, back in the early Eighties..

84. "THIS IS RADIO CLASH FROM PIRATE SATELLITE"
This is radio clash from pirate satellite

Orbiting your living room,
Cashing in the bill of rights
Cuban army surplus or refusing all third lights
This is radio clash on pirate satellite

This sound does not subscribe
To the international plan
In the psycho shadow of the white right hand
Then that see ghettology as an urban viet nam
Giving deadly exhibitions of murder by napalm

This is radio clash tearing up the seven veils
This is radio clash please save us, not the whales
This is radio clash underneath a mushroom cloud
This is radio clash
You don’t need that funeral shroud

Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty

Hands of law have sorted through
My identity
But now this sound is brave
And wants to be free - anyway to be free

This is radio clash on pirate satellite
This is not free europe
Noh an armed force network
This is radio clash using audio ammunition
This is radio clash can we get that world to listen?
This is radio clash using aural ammunition
This is radio clash can we get that world to listen?
This is radio clash on pirate satellite
Orbiting your living room,
Cashing in the bill of rights
This is radio clash on pirate satellite
This is radio clash everybody hold on tight

A-riggy diggy dig dang dang

Go back to urban ’nam

85. "Complete Control" most days, but "Clampdown" a close second.
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 08:43 PM by swag
As was evidenced by last night's abortive lyric post, "Guns on the Roof" rates right up there. There are so many good ones. Used to be "White Man in Hammersmith Palais," for a few years. Hard to narrow it down to one.

Oh, my underdog choice: "The Right Profile."
