THESE PLANES ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!
The Chicago air show is going on RIGHT ABOVE ME!

I am wearing ear-plugs, but that can't hide the overwhelming, opressive noise and vibration from the things.:banghead:

3. I hear them as well.....
And, last I heard, they are letting the Thunderbirds fly today. That was a nice break yesterday.

4. One of the pictures taken
from my pasture at the farm a couple of years ago. My friend is a pro and he took these from right behind my barn. My horses sympathize with you I am certain.

It was deafening, I am right in their path and very close to the base.

7. Ahhhh poor little things.
My cats would go into the hay barn and I assume they would bury themselves as far down in the bales as possible because I would hardly see them for 3 days.

When Wichita still had the B1 and the stealth (HA, I do not really know if that is right, one was the stealth but B1 or was it B2?) they would do stop and goes at the base close to my farm. Now THAT was loud. All day long. It does not bother me, I kind of like it since it wasn't for long, just a day or two a month. I would always wave at them, you could almost see their facial features and feel the heat as they burned past.

6. I want to fly with them !!
I've always had a dream to fly with the Canadian Snowbirds or the Blue Angels. It won't happen, but I can dream.

8. Ya whiner. Try having the Swiss Army flying maneuvers over your house
24/7 for four months out of the year. On sunny days in summer, they do their paratrooper crap, which involves Swiss Army bünzli guys jumping out of airplanes into our lake, and then shouting for rescue at the top of their lungs, with their anguished voices bouncing off of the surrounding mountain walls. :eyes:

9. At least they cancelled the Thunderbirds today....
Having seen the video of the two planes touching yesterday, I don't quite understand how they avoided a crash. How traumatic that would have been for the million spectators. Yikes!

10. Would have been Rammstein all over again
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramstein_airshow_disaster

n one of the world's worst airshow disasters on August 28, 1988, three jets from the Italian Air Force display team, Frecce Tricolori, collided in mid-air and one crashed into the crowd during an airshow at Ramstein Air Base near Ramstein, Germany. Sixty seven spectators (as well as all three pilots) were killed and hundreds injured in the resulting explosion.

The disaster resulted in a total ban of public airshows in Germany, which was lifted three years later and replaced with security regulations:

* minimal height and distance from spectators
* no maneuvers in the directions of spectators
* all maneuvers subject to approval by authorities

Ramstein Air Base itself has not held an airshow since the incident.

11. I remember Ramstein well....
It reinforced my dislike for airshows.

At least these planes were out over Lake Michigan at the time of the incident and so less likely to fall onto people...except for those viewing the airshow from their boats on the lake.
