Guess who I served this weekend?
The President of Ireland!

She was a very down to earth lady. While I was setting up her dinner she was asking me questions about whether it was always this hot in Milwaukee, have I been to Irish Fest (the reason she was in town). I only was in the room for about 5 minutes but left with a positive impression of her.

1. Where do you work, Will?
Why do I feel as if we are the only two here this AM? :hi:

3. That's pretty cool! Why isn't her being in the US in the news?
That's amazing she came over for a Fest - did she have a child dancing in it or something?

5. I don't really know...
She did have a US Secret Service group, though.

I even got one of their little SS pins.

Whee.

4. The Irish have been very good at picking Presidents
Mary McAleese following on from Mary Robinson.

I suspect that a large part of this is due to the non-political role - unlike the American, French or Russian Presidents she is not a really powerful person - that's vested in the Toaiseach (Prime Minister) with the President more like the Queen in what she does.

7. This I did not know....
But, regardless, she was still very nice in the brief time I got to speak with her. Would liked to have had an opportunity to have an in-depth conversation.

6. She obviously doesn't know how to treat the little people.
