My dog is allergic to his butt-rubbing stool...
My poor little Shar-Pei is having a problem. His bottom was so sore last night he couldn't sit or lie down. We were up all night with him. The veterinary hospital told us it wasn't an emergency, so we took him in first thing this AM.

My vet calls me about an hour ago, and he tells me that he has contact dermatitis, probably related to something new in his environment. We just moved, so there's lots of new stuff in his environment. The vet gave him a shot and a prescription. I called my partner and filled him in and asked him if he knew of anything that could cause this condition. This is the conversation between myself and the love of my life:

Me: So what do you think caused it?

LOML: I have no idea... well, it could be his butt-rubbing stool.

Me: WHAT? He has a butt rubbing stool?

LOML, sounding embarassed: Well, yeah. You know that sisal footstool in the living room, the one with the silk pillow on top?

Me: Yeah, the one I put my feet on at night?

LOML: Yeah...well, about that... see, I caught him kind of rubbing his ass and tail along it one morning after you left for work.

Me: WHAT? On my footstool? Did you tell him no?

LOML: I was going to, but he looked like he really enjoyed it, and he was so cute, just rocking back and forth for ten or fifteen minutes...

ME: YOU LET OUR DOG RUB HIS ASS WHERE I PUT MY BARE FEET AT NIGHT? FOR TEN OR FIFTEEN MINUTES?

LOML: Um... yeah. He kind of does it a lot actually...

At this point, I just hung up.

1. I hate it when that happens to me.
It's a vicious circle. My ass itches, I rub it on my sweetie's stool, itch, rub, itch, rub...

21. true.. but anal glands are a big problem
just went through rupture and absess with my little guy. A great sign of glands needing to be emptied is the butt scoot on the rug.

15. You must smear the footstool with preparation H
That might help:)..and you could provide a roll of paper towels for wiping it off the feet :).. Although.. the PH might soften and soothe those tired feet :)
