1. So do I...
Kids would be better off these days if they had Captain Kangaroo.
I loved the Ping Pong Balls and Mr. Moose, Dancing Bear, Grandfather Clock and Tom Terrific. Sigh...

5. I met him once.
At a yard sale, no less. I looked up & there he was. At the age of 30-something my heart skipped a beat. So yes, I miss him, too.

6. A friend of mine went to high school with the Captain's son...
and would spend weekends at his house in Virginia during the 60's.
The dude got to hang around with Captain Kangaroo!

7. I always wanted Bactine and Scotch Tape in my Easter Basket
Because they were advertisers. My parents got it for me because they thought it was a hoot. Remember all the projects he made with shoe boxes and Quaker Oats boxes?

14. I remember the Sweet Pickles
"animated" stills shorts based on the book series. I related to Worry Walrus.

I loved Simon too.

Well, you know my name is Simon
And the things I draw come true
and the pictures take me take me climbing
over the garden wall to you
