I think it was called Crocker Citizens Bank back then -- it's been a long time ago, 1969-70-71, in through there, One Montgomery Street on the corner of Market, San Francisco. They tore the old building down after I left and built the tower that's there now. I was a full-blown hippie at the time and didn't even wear stockings to work, which used to absolutely shock some of the older ladies on the elevator, who would eye me disapprovingly. My friends and I used to go out in the alleys on our lunch break and smoke a joint every day, and I'd come back to work toasted. The people in advertising and PR were very cool, though, and they treated me great.

Several years later I went back down there and visited one of my older co-workers, a really lovely woman who also was a writer and artist. I let her in on my big secret that I had been stoned every afternoon when I came back from lunch, and she just smiled and said, "Honey, we ALL knew, but we didn't care."
