How does one four-year old and one six-month old equal 100+ children? It sure feels like I have an army of cats to herd now... That said, I couldn't be happier. Ian is getting huge, Meg is almost crawling...

I'm writing like a madman. I sold a short story to Escape Pod (www.escapepod.info) but it hasn't been recorded yet, and it looks like I might sell another to a mag named Flashing Swords. Add to that editing the novel, writing for Horrorview, and general madness of work, kuhapdo class, hapkido class, taking care of the dishes...

I am surprised I haven't collapsed into exhaustion yet.

19. I am getting enough rest...

I had a pretty bad exhaustion crash about two months ago that led to a double-wham-bang (I fell off the roof while cleaning the gutters then got a badass summer flu that forced me to the doctors office {and I am terrified of doctors}).

But I've learned to moderate some so that i generally hit the sack at 1 - 2 AM four nights a week, and 10PM for the other three. I also get up early on weekends to eat sugary cereal and watch cartoons with Ian.

I also made a conscious decision not to let shit get to me, especially shit I couldn't really do anything about... we've had a pretty hot summer here in NH and we don't have air conditioning, worse, my office is about 10 degrees hotter than ambient temperature as all my computer pump out heat like crazy. I've sort of embraced the temporary discomfort and rather than complain, just sort of accept it, embrace it, and enjoy it then get on with getting on... you know.

And listening to Ian sing along with Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" tends to surpass all other pleasures...

I don't know if it was having the second kid, but it did alter my outlook some. It's made me a better writer too, more dilligent with editing and submissions, more attention to detail too.

on edit - thanks for the compliment on the kids :) I marvel that they don't look like circus freaks considering I supplied half of their respective chromosome count.

28. adapting to that new person in the house has been a long process

but I can't complain.

Work has been going gangbusters so I haven't had the daytime to fart around and play hooky in the lounge (except for today, and only until 1PM).
