Good PC data/programs migration software out there? |
|
Going to get a new PC (my old one is dying) and I want to just try to migrate the information/data/programs from my old PC's harddrive to my new one.
I'm not very computer saavy, but I think there's software available that works with a serial cable between the two CPUs?
Anybody had any good results with this type of thing? Recommendations?

1. hmmm...one fast, down 'n dirty way (no cable, no software)... |
|
would be to just take the HD out of your old box, install it in new box as a slave drive, then move everything over to the new drive.

2. Will both computers have network cards? |
|
If so, you could hook them together either through a hub or directly to each other with what is called a crossover cable. Then you simply "share" the hard drive on the old computer, and use the new computer to copy everything you want off of it.
