Dear sweet Sirius died in my arms at 12:17 this afternoon.

He coughed blood all night and was almost too weak to get in the car for the 1:30 ride to the vet specialty clinic in Greenville. Michelle, Sirius's oncologist, took a chest xray and found massive tumors in the lungs. He died in my arms with me singing to him. What a dear sweet dog he was.

Sirius looks like such a sweetie! He struggled to hold on a bit longer for you, and did for awhile. When I had to let two of my angels go, one thing that helped me, was writing down everything I could remember about each one of them. Their individual markings, their quirks, their personalities, what each of them loved to do, eat, play with. Anything I could remember about them. I just poured it all out, and strangely, it brought a lot of peace to me. I still read my remembrances from time to time, (its not so painful now), and those words bring me smiles now, not tears. Oliver had tumors in his lungs too, and had massive amounts of fluid in his lungs, and eventually started having seizures. He passed away at the vet's hospital during a seizure. Sadie also started having seizures, small at first, but growing to big ones. Eventually, they got so bad, that medication couldn't control them, and one day she had such a massive seizure, that the only thing I could do to help her, was to let her go. I took her to the vet, and he administered the medication that allowed her to go to heaven.

I now have 2 rescue cocker spaniels, that I love more than life itself, and I know, are gifts from God. I love them dearly, but still miss Oliver and Sadie, and will read my remembrances, and love them all over again!

She could barely drive through her tears. But she had a few extra minutes and met us at the clinic just as I got Sirius out of the car. That was the last wag of his wonderful tail that I ever saw. The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
