Doctors Reattach Ears of Man Maimed

(08/26/05 - WINSTON-SALEM) - Doctors have reattached the ears of a man who lost them in a knife attack.
The Stokes County sheriff's office says Tony Wagner is in stable condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office says doctors are continuing to monitor him for infection.
Wagner was attacked between late Tuesday or early Wednesday after going to get a tattoo in Walnut Cove.
A serrated kitchen knife was used to cut his ears and also to slash his penis. He was also beaten and stabbed in the torso. Wagner drove to a friend's home, and emergency workers took him to Baptist Hospital.
Gary Johnson and Jennifer Robbins of Walnut Cove are charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, malicious castration, maiming and kidnapping. They're jailed under bond of 250-thousand dollars apiece.
