Poll question: W-O-R-S-T damn 80s Hair Metal song. Pick one of these or add yer own.

REMEMBER...cool bands DO release songs that SUCK, so a vote for a song in THIS poll is NOT a vote against the entire recorded works.

1. Oh Ghod
An embarassment of riches. Can't possibly choose, so I'll just add another. Slaughter - Up All Night, Sleep All Day.

5. I was living in denial until your post...YES, that's a BAD one.
I'd actually blocked out all of the painful memories of that song.

The only thing worse that the "Up all night, sleep all day" was the weasel-y "THAT'S RIIIIIIIGHT" response.

7. Yeah...VH1 talked about that..
You watched that, right? I seem to remember you replying when I posted that "Worst Metal Vids" thread.

I think it was Henry Rollins who said in that special "If you're NINETEEN and lusting after a 17 year old girl, that's ONE thing...but if you're THIRTY FIVE..."

10. It was an annoying little juvenile sexual innuendo train wreck of a song.
And if anyone missed the point of the lyrics, the video drove it home...with a sledgehammer.

Warrant lead singer Jani Lane is currently on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club," dealing with a weight problem and a bad case of alcoholism.

But I always changed it the minute it came on or if I was surfing and ran across it.

And the tidbit about the lead singer-:wow: who knew?

I do NOT understand the concept of a power ballad. But, then again, I hate aqua net and spandex, too. :)

11. Well, I happen to love hair metal ...
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 06:31 PM by BattyDem
:hide:

I just bought Black 'n Blue's Ultimate Collection from Amazon.com (not a well-known band, but good music! :headbang: )

But I'm not so blind by my love for the genre that I can't recognize the crap. So, I'd have to say "Seventeen" - it's a very catchy song, Kip Winger was drop-dead gorgeous ... but let's face it: it's a pedophilia anthem. :puke:

31. I agree with you. I love hair metal ....and
Kip Winger was drop-dead gorgeous. Hated the song, but I'd watch the video just to look at him. I also had a little thing going with a local musician who looked kinda like him.

35. Impossible for a number of reasons
1) It was recorded in 1976, and therefore ineligible for an 80's poll.

2) Ac/Dc was NEVER a hair band. They weren't actually metal at all. They just got lumped in there with all the "Hell" references in their music.

3) Dirty Deeds does not suck. Nothing they recorded with Bon Scott sucks.

20. More really, really bad songs....
Hi y'all. This is my first post, I just couldn't pass this up...

Here's some notable sucky 80's songs...

"Who Made Who" AC/DC (crappy song, from a crappy movie)

"The Price" Twisted Sister (no one bought a power ballad from them)

"Long Way To Love" Britny Fox (Sort of obscure, not sure if anyone will remember them. They were a bad Cinderella clone)

"Heartbreak Boulevard" Shotgun Messiah (another obscure one, check it out if you get the chance, the bridge to this song sounds sort of like "The Muppets".

"Home Sweet Home" Motley Crue (No short comment could sum this up, it was just plain bad)

Just my 2 cents on these. See you all soon.

Okay, many of these bands had talent, albeit a bad genre.

White Lion, Slaughter, etc had more talent than me, but...c'mon...

27. I forgot about Slaughter when I posted the poll...
...but yeah, they're probably worse than everyone on the list combined (EXCEPT Winger).

White Lion, Accept, Quiet Riot, Autograph...the list goes on, but at least we have a few of the "main offenders" here...

She's only seventeen (seventeen)
Daddy says she's too young
But she's old enough for me
Seventeen!!
She's everything I need (seventeen)
Daddy says she's too young
But she's old enough
Old enough for me
Yeah! Yeah!

37. What about "WHite Lion" - WHen the Children Cry
Fuck the children, what about me. I burst into tears every time I hear that piece of shit.

A close second would have to be "Unskinny Bop" by Poison. Aside from the fact that it's completely fucking nonsensical, Brett Michaels pumping his groin every time he says "bop" makes me throw up in my mouth.
