How's everybody doing?
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 10:07 AM by Wetzelbill
I just had my first week back to school. I took a year off so I can get resident tuition etc. It was nice to be back, I have some good classes and all. Really looking forward to International Relations and Tribal Government, as those will probably be the two fields I'll end up working in. Or at least one of them.

Only bad luck for me this week is I somehow hurt my foot. Might be an old injury, a stress fracture or something. It just wasn't one thing though. It's been sore all week, hurts like hell right now, but, nothing a little ice and toughness can't handle. :)

This has been a trying year for all of us. Having to deal with the bunch of clowns in charge and all. The election was a tough blow. Plus, we all have personal things, you know? Had some DUers die, unfortunately. All some of the best that have ever been around here. At the beginning of the summer, a friend of mine committed suicide, while battling a drug and depression problem. Those things are tough as you all know.

However, it looks like things may be getting better. Patrick Fitzgerald might have some big things going on in his investigation of the TreasonGate affair. A Gold Star Mom with a lot of resolve and love for her son has the WH on the run. Things look to be turning our way a bit. Which is, of course, the way of the American people. The right way.

For the first time in a while, I feel pretty good about everything. Like there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Sure, we have lots of hard work to do and good things to accomplish, but I think we can get there.

So, anyway, how are all of you?

(damn I hate typos)

1. And a very good morning to you, my dear Wetzelbill!
I'm doing just fine, thanks...I can't stay too long right now; I have a local political meeting in about 80 minutes, and I haven't had my breakfast just yet...

I am sorry to hear about your foot...hope it's feeling better quickly. You probably already know the drill, but here goes anyway: RICE...Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate...

I too feel a bit of optimism about where the country is going; Mr. Fitzgerald has the sort of intelligence and tenacity to do the job right...

Turning our beloved country is rather like turning the Titanic...very hard! But once we have momentum, then it can happen...

Good to hear from you!

:applause: :pals: :loveya:

2. I am a little sad at the thought of my kids going back to school.
My daughter went back last week and my son starts this week. We have a lot of fun together in the summer time and it just seems as if time marches by far too quickly.

Other than that, I am getting really excited for D.C. and the opportunity to meet and greet so many DUers that I have come to love and respect. :hi:

I'm very much looking forward to that! :D

So, all in all, things are good.

4. Well hi :)
I just felt like answering this, even though we're not particularly familiar with one another. :)

I finished up my first year of grad school, and will be completing my M.A. after this next school year. I am in the process of applying for PhD programs, which is very stressful, but in a highly exhilarating way. I'm hoping to have a pie in the pantry (tsk-tsk... why do I like such silly euphamisms... I'm hoping to get preggers) this fall, and with any luck, will have a bouncing baby liberal by next year. I'm going to be protesting in DC with my mom, which just rocks. Mostly because she rocks. I have a great relationship with my guy, and even though I am truly, truly busy, I am loving everything that I am doing right now. And... I'm knocking on wood as I type all this.

Congrats on your entrance back into school! It's great, no? :)

:hi:

5. Everything's just fine and dandy
I've been back to school for the past three weeks, but as you know already, I'm the teacher not the student. I have an easy course load, only 53 students total and only two classes for which I must plan per day, when for the past four years it was three per day. I have a new room with windows; I've been teaching in a renovated storage closet for the past three years. My former room really triggered my SAD and caused me to go a little "stir crazy". But the new room resolved all that.

I have recently discovered that an article I wrote for a historical reference dictionary will complete my recertification requirements, so when my current license expires, it will automatically renew. So it looks as if I'm certified until 2012.

The only problem I been having, which is really trivial, is that my modem is acting like a yo-yo. This past week it has been up and down about five times; I think it may be haunted.

Last February I was at a conference. While I was there I noticed that the Air Force was trying to recruit historians. I looked into what they were offering and I met their criteria and filled out a form as they were offering almost $60K per year. Then I decided that I did not want this job. This past week I was contacted to see if I were still interested, but I told them no. Then they e-mailed me again. I thought about informing them of how I feel about this illegal war (and how I would write the history of what was going on...) along with the criminality of the chimpster, but decided not to do this. Why, you may ask? I gave it some thought but decided (maybe out of paranoia) that I might end up on a list of some kind. Therefore, I simply deleted the e-mail. If they are having trouble not only recruiting people for the enlisted ranks, it also appears that they might be having some difficulty recruiting civilian employees as well.

I hope your foot gets better soon, there is nothing worse than a painful foot or leg as it affects your mobility.

:hi: Howdy Bill. One more post to get out of the 700 club! LOL!

7. My dear BikeWriter...
How can you say you're not worth a damn? This is so wrong on every level...

I like to read your posts...you always have interesting and thoughtful things to say...

And I love your beard, too!

Don't you dare run down one of my friends, you hear? (I'm smiling, BTW)

Please feel better...
