I have to say, one thing Cleveland has over Pittsburgh is a great brewery. I was never a huge fan of Penn Brewery or (ugh) Pittsburgh Brewing.

North Peak Brewing Co. In Traverse City, Michigan. I like their Northern Lite beer myself. I'm not a dark or stout beer guy. But friends have told me that they have some excellent choices in those areas as well.

People who like hoppy stuff (which I don't) tend to love it. I like the straight lagers and ales (Spaten, Bass). Dominion makes a lot of individual brews (mainly ales) for bars across Virginia, DC and Maryland; I've never had a bad one.

Sounds like a great place huh? Actually it is. Only downside is it's not that big. With 28 beers going, it doesn't leave a lot of room for seating unfortunately. And being the only smoke-free pub in town certainly helps it fill up fast.

I don't drink the stuff myself, so I don't know from good (although I did have a couple of sips of New Glarus Spotted Cow recently and didn't find it repulsive, so that's a step up), but there's a lot of it here.

52. Lucky Lab, I think. It had been the Bridgeport, home of an impromptu

election night 1992 celebration among patriot patrons, but then they remodeled and destroyed the nice warehouse openness of the downstairs, so you had to go upstairs to feel comfortable. They're undergoing another remodel, so maybe they'll fix that bullshit.

Widmer has a nice location, but locals have the unfortunate habit of pronouncing it "Wid-mere," so I can't possible select that one.

Portland Brewing Co. is quite fine, though I miss their old Pearl location, now supplanted with a Rogue Brewery outpost.

Great beer, so-so food. Lot's of train noise.
