I haven't seen the movie yet. Guess I'm waiting for the movie to make it to Starz or HBO. I have listened to the clips of "America-Fuck Yea!" and the C &W style ballad "Freedom Isn't Free." Both of them are hilarious. I was just curious what some of you that had seen this flick thought.

was that the conservative types thought that the movie was a total slam against liberals. They could not understand why liberals would love the movie.

9. I Remember Janeane Was Talking About Matt and Trey On "Majority Report"...

one night. She was fairly complimentary of them. Her concern was her nephews seeing her puppet get blown up and how they would react to that. If I remember correctly she talked about running into one of them in NYC and asked them to send her the Janeane puppet. I don't remember if she ever talked about getting that, or not.

It was critical of everyone, conservatives are just too stupid to get that. The whole "America: Fuck Yeah" theme was not flattering of conservatives, nor were the opening scenes of... Well, won't give them away. Conservatives aren't known for being smart. If they were smart, they'd be liberals.

2. eh , watch it. I have seen better, I have seen worse.

many people hated it because they thought it was rightwing(?). for me, when it was over i was ready for it to be over. It got tedious for me after awhile. give it a watch anyway. :shrug:

8. I am picky about comedy. it gets old fast for me...

For example I thought Jim Carey was hysterical doing short skits on "In Living Color" but a whole movie(comedy) of him bored me after about a half an hour (if not sooner depending on the movie) :shrug:

My husband and I laughed our asses off. It was satirical and made fun of everyone. Personally I think it is worth a watch just for the love scene.

12. Not very funny

Just as South Park wasn't very funny after the first couple of seasons, Team America wasn't very funny after the first ten or twenty minutes.

Parker and Stone have fallen into this trap of being "apolitical." Except they're not very apolitical, they're actually rather right wing, either glossing over or outright ignoring the idiocies of the modern conservatives, while outright harping on liberals.

If they truly made fun of both equally, or even made fun of one side intelligently, it would be one thing, but this so-called "populist" desire to make fun of everybody lacks any sort of humor.

Matt? Trey? If you're reading this, get some balls and speak out on one side or the other, whether I agre or not. At least then you'd have an opinion. Thanks.

13. watched it with my 14-year-old. The puppet sex scenes were ...

...a little embarrassing.
You can see how left OR right would claim the film slams the other side....but the whole concept is based on taunting the macho toby keith types of the world....we flatten Paris to kill a few terrorists...
...see? I'm already sliding toward claiming the film for the left....but it's true, EVERYBODY gets pasted....more left-wing figures are named, however.

just my opinion.

It exists to bash liberal celebs - it does not come down equally hard on the "other side."

As for the creators - I think they get off on pretending like they don't promote one side more than the other, which is BS. They promote apathy (remember when they told kids not to vote before the election?) and apathy is just another vote for the status quo. They don't *challenge" or subvert anything. Waste_of_Space. I'd rather watch the Snorks.

again, just my opinion, and i know enough about south park fans to know it will be ridiculed, and angrily. Begin.

15. Not funny.

South Park is hit or miss with me. I either really like an episode (dum dum dum dum dum) or loathe it so much that I can't watch (especially Jimmy). Overall, I like most of the episodes. Politically, the show is much like Penn & Teller's Bullshit. It has a libertarian bent that is 15% likely to really offend me. Otherwise, fairly entertaining.

World Police was just not funny. Not entertaining in the least. Not at all. It's not just the politics that suck in that movie. It's just boring.

It did get a little boring mid-way through. I they think they could have done with cutting the length down.

It does take the Libertarian position (notice capitalised 'L') on things.

22. Hated it, in general, though it had some great moments.

There are three or four scenes that really stick out as bordering on genius. The "America-Fuck Yeah!" song being one of them. Also, there's a scene near the end called "Montage" which is hilariously satirical of Hollywood.

But over-all I kept hoping for some genius insight or some genius satirical message to pull it all together, and I never got that. It was just one long sketch of shock scenes that eventually ended in a bland climax. Think "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," but then make the ending say even less, and have less creativity in the farce.

Overall, I felt like I'd wasted my time with it. Slapstick gets boring when that's all it is.

Because of the generally positive opinions expressed, I watched it and pretty much hated it. "We Need A Montage" was wildly funny; everything else was annoying at best. If you liked the two songs you heard, however, you'll probably like the rest of the movie.
