1. I'm freaking out for Louisiana.

I've never been there, but living in Florida for thirty years I have had my experiences. First, as a P/L underwriter in the 80s I went to enough symposiums on hurricanes to know that they have been predicting a Camille or Donna like catastrophic hurricane for a loooong time. They were concerned about the building boom that has gone on around the coastline all this time.

I have had my concerns about how Florida handled this event, but now I'm hearing enough to feel concerned that Louisiana politicians and planners may have sold their people short. Just looking at the evacuations I get the feeling that they're not evacuating enough people out fast enough.

My heart and prayers are out to all of you in New Orleans.

It's true that NO now faces the disaster of a lifetime, if not of several lifetimes...

And all we have right now is this heat...

But God knows we've had our share of disasters too...all the big earthquakes and the like...big brush fires too...

So I'd say you're not out of line in your complaint about the heat...especially since you have made your very kind comments about what those folks are going through...

4. Ahh Peggy! I can always count on you for kind inspiration.

We've had our share of ND's in SoCal but I fear that this storm will have heavy human casualties. I'm not a religous man but I will pray from NOLA.

BTW, bu$h will be in San Diego (Coronado), tomorrow night. We're planning a huge vigil/protest, on the beach by the Hotel Del Coronado.
