Iraq just hit closer to home
I just found out that the brother of a good friend was killed by a car bomb last week in Iraq while guarding some government official. I didn't know him, so it's not a personal loss, but I'm just so pissed off that my friend has to go through this.

I am SO sick of this evil, illegitimate administration. Will they ever be held accountable? With every passing day my hope of that happening is a little weaker. How many more people have to die? :(

4. Many of the supporters of the Iraq invasion...
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 11:03 PM by Jade Fox
are using it in an attempt to re-write history where Viet Nam is concerned.
Thev've got some sort of powerful emotional investment going on
which is routed in a war which ended 30 freaking years ago. Like if we
can just make the Iraq disaster into something good, the wounds of
Viet Nam disappear.

That's the conclusion I've come to.

5. We would never have won Viet Nam, they were fighting for their
independence, especially from China, and we won't "win" the war in Iraq, which will become a Shiite theocracy, after a civil war

7. Poppy Bush said as much about HIS Iraq war
I don't have the exact quote, but it was something about "ending the Vietnam syndrome."

Another reason for him to be ashamed of his idiot son.

8. Not to mention his idiot self.....
The Gulf War was started on pretexts that were nearly as illegitimate as
the ones that were used as an excuse to do it again. The Bush the First
Administration understood one thing that his son's administration
does not. That is: get it over fast. Don't let enough time pass for
people to investigate your claims and examine what's really going on.

It worked too. It helped that there was no internet then. By the
time people started to question justifications for the war, it was
over.

6. 7 years? We were over there for over 20 years.
Someone posted today that the PNAC plan says that as long as the death rate stays below 30,000 there will be no problem from the public.
