Nice to see you among the Nighthawks!

Halfway through my first cup of coffee; can't believe it's Monday already.

I guess I don't need to ask, "How's your insomnia?"

10. My sleep seems to be improving
I actually got to sleep before 4 AM the other day and I woke up at 10:30 AM. Slept until 1 PM today though even though I got to sleep relatively early for me. But I'll take a little improvement over none.

Remember that little talk we had about insecurity? Well, after I workout now I get this big boost of energy that lasts for the rest of the day. It also gives me a lot more confidence in myself. I guess you can't really separate the mind from the body. My outlook is affected by the way that I feel physically.

Yeah, I remember that little talk. I definitely agree that mind and body are connected (and I'd throw 'spirit' in there, too).

So, you wanna come over and mow my mother-in-law's lawn, Mr. FeelGood? ;)

Oh, and you must cook me some schnitzel. Wait, that's Germany. Do they do schnitzel in Switzerland? And am I spelling 'schnitzel' right?

By the truckload. :eyes: The best thing is Zurich-schnitzel. It's like pork medallions, smothered in brown gravy, with a side of hashbrowns and a vegetable. YUM!

31. Man, I'd have to fast for two days
just to eat that so I wouldn't blow my diet.

My dad was stationed in Germany while he was in the military. That's where I was born. My mom learned how to cook schnitzel while she was there. It's been one of my favorite dishes ever since. Now you know why I needed to start working out. :)

33. I know it, That's why we're relatively schnitzel-free around here.
Also, when it's cooked, there's a brief frying episode involved, and I don't like for my kitchen to smell greasy. :puke:

Do you remember Germany at all?

39. I only have a few memories of Germany
We moved back to the states when I was 4. I remember weird and painful things from that time. My earliest memory is of putting my hand on a red hot stove burner. After that I remember looking out the window of our apartment when a lady fell down the steps and broke her leg. I was talking to my mom and asking her about the ambulance and what happened to the lady. I didn't understand how a leg could be broken. Other than that I have the impression that there are a lot of cloudy days in Germany, but I don't remember details. And one last thing. When I walked when I was over there I liked to scuff my shoes on the ground to a certain rhythm. I remember doing that when it was dark and we were outside and my father asking me to stop it.

That's about all I remember of my time in Germany.

different building, with an old friend ive known all my life and another guy, so 2 roomates. we have a 2 room setup. the only reason it took so long is we had to carpet the room, and weve been looking up old friends here and there it isnt 12 hours of straight unpacking.
all in all its good to be back. but im kinda homesick, kinda down. and i keep getting this urge to call my ex... which i must fight... ya know what they say about being in a place that brings ya back, and hell, this place really brings me back.

for my own good tell me to not call her.

12. Hell, dude
You must have an apartment. When I was in school I stayed in a room that I shared with another person. It was about the size of a walk in closet, or so it seemed. It took me probably about 1 hour to unload everything move it up to the room and to get organized. The most amount of time was setting up my computer.

Sigh. It makes me kind of miss school in a weird way. I never graduated, but I guess I had some good times.

It took me a while to figure out how handle the cord without "incident" (like running over it with the mower), but I've got it down to an art now. I'd never go back to gas-powered mowing.

That is how I listen to most of my music now, and to think I once scoffed at the idea of using a computer as a stereo. I could do with a little bit more power, but it is still really neat.

65. I was trying to help you
Many of the new computers come with Windows Media Player which gives you the option of copying files from a CD. Once those files are copied, you can play them from your hard drive or even burn another CD. I copied a bunch of mine, until I started to run out of hard drive space.

Anyway, if you did that, you would not have to "worry" about wearing out the CD.

66. Oh my goodness, I misunderstood you completely!
I'm actually not too worried about wearing out my CD's...I think they do well unless you get them warped or get peanut butter on them...

But Thank You for your thoughtfulness! And the sound quality from my little speakers here on the computer is not all that great...

That was extremely thoughtful of you...and I will certainly keep in mind what you've told me if I should ever copy files into my hard drive...Wow....thanks...

43. Hey!
I just heard this song and was reminded of your other thread . . .
Here, have an insidious earworm!

"Close to You" by Burt Bachrach, as recorded by The Carpenters

Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
Just like me (Just like me)
They long to be
Close to you.

Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Hahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Lahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.

71. Hello, my dear Heidi....
KitchenWitch sends her regards...she had to go to bed early, since she didn't get much sleep last night....I was being selfish, and told her that it wouldn't be the same without her...but she needed to sleep and so I let her go reluctantly...

How are you doing? :loveya: BTW, I meant to tell you how much I love your new avatar...biggo surprise, huh? It's gorgeous, not surprisingly!

73. Hi, Peggy!
Thanks, sweetie, about the avatar. I've had it for six or eight months, though. I bet you didn't notice it, though, until I posted the color version in the "post your picture" thread the other day. ;)

Is it still warm in your part of California at night?

77. OOPS! You got me...you are so correct...I didn't notice it until you
posted it in the pic thread the other day...I honestly thought that you'd changed your avatar after that! Oh boy...what great powers of observation I possess!

It's still fairly warm at night here...but maybe a bit less...We do get a nice breeze in the late afternoon, and then I run all over the house to open the windows so we can turn off the A/C...and let old Ma Nature cool the place down naturally...It usually gets nice here in the late PM...and we can sleep without being hot...

:pals:

76. Hey Heidi!

Doing programming for the week and watching the WDSU feed right now. I had some hope earliler today that it wasn't as bad as predicted, but after seeing the latest news from around the Gulf and in NOLA it's going to be very, very bad for a long time..

78. Hi, my friend.
Sigh. I know it. I feel powerless now just as I felt powerless on 9 Sept 01.

80. Hello Heidi
I went to Camp Casey, I had a lot of fun, but the day was so hot.

I heard the heat index was 115 degrees, all I did was drink water.

Coming back we went though this huge thunder storm, the lighting was so bright, the whole dark country side looked like a giant flashlight had been turn on. What a day.

82. No, the rain was just on Sunday.
We are not getting any rain, we are on the dry side of the hurricane.

Cindy was meeting us at the buses and I got a big hug from her, I am blessed.

Later on I met Randy Rhodes at Camp Casey I, just doesn't get much better.

Saturday was a great day, even if it felt like an oven.
