"Constantine" vs. "Joe Dirt"
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 11:39 AM by underpants
I saw both this weekend (+"Hide and Seek") and let me just say that Joe Dirt was better.

Wow "Constantine" was horrible. Keanu Reeves might be a nice guy and all but I thought he was doing a Clint Eastewood impression in the first 15 minutes for a laugh then it showed back up 30 minutes later then after another 15 mintues.... and so on.

The worst part was at the very end when he and the heroin are standing face to face ready to kiss after literally going to hell and back and she says ....

"Well, I guess I will see you around"

and he replies

"Oh...okay"

Joe Dirt had its moments- namely Brittany Daniel :wow:

1. I was thinking of
ordering Constantine on Pay Per View. Guess I won't do that now. Thanks. Joe Dirt? Lol.

2. Well there wasn't much to watch
Constantine is pretty bad especially when you consider the buidget and the cast.

Great special effects...which of course means the movie sucks.

3. I Thought Constantine was an Interesting Take
on the Christian mythos. Most comic-book movies are disappointing (to me), but I thought Constantine was a pleasant surprise.

5. I knew it had to be from a comic book
the synopsis said "John Constantine...." as if I am supposed to have heard of him before.

That explains a lot.

20. I like Constantine...Peter Stormare was awesome as Lucifer...
John Constantine: How's the family?
Satan: Family's doing just fine. Busy, busy, busy, busy. Need a vacation.

4. "Life's a garden. Dig it."
I must admit, Joe Dirt is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Any movie with Christopher Walken automatically gets a free pass anyway.

7. The soundtrack
is a comprehensive collection of tunes that I never wanted to hear again anyway.

Yes his t-shirts were funny and the bit about the fireworks was surely a result of a "late night" session with friends.

My wife asked if I wanted to keep watching and I said "We've gone this far, I actually want to find out what happens to him" she shot me a "You already know how this is going to end" look.

I choked.....

8. Joe Dirt was really a pleasant surprise
Constantine's only saving grace was Rachel Weisz looking like Rachel Weisz

9. Didn't think Constantine was that bad.
Yeah, Keanu sucks. It's actually gotten to the point where I can look past that, which is amazing for me.

12. Joe Dirt was one of the few Adam Sandler movies I liked
Dennis Miller actually seemed human.

I believe I liked it because Adam Sandler was not in it. I realized it was an AS movie afterward . . .

14. I believe that Sandler produced it
but wasn't in it.

That's my point. It was an Adam Sandler (produced) film, but he wasn't in it. But I liked the film! Probably because AS didn't show up in it . . .

19. Brandy, you're a fine girl . . .
I also liked the "Wizard of Oz" nod near the end . . . and it made me wonder - was it all supposed to be a trailer-trash version of the Wizard of Oz?

I have a friend whom I refer to as "Joe Dirt" - and it's a compliment. He's been down and kicked about . . . but he still has a fairly positive attitude . . .

21. Joe Dirt is a bad movie.
Cheesy and corn ballish, but it is enjoyable in a weird way. Not seen Constantine yet, but i'm sure i'll get around to it.
