Is there a difference between hybrid tech in the Prius and Insight?

I know the cars are very different, but I was noticing the MPG ratings and the Prius is better in town than on the highway, where the Insight is the reverse (and like most cars).

Can someone explain the difference to me?

1. Here's what I heard, and I don't know if it is true

The Prius's tech depends on how much braking is done, so if you brake more, it charges the batteries.

I don't know how Insight gets the better road mileage. If you find out, please post.

2. I don't think that there is a lot of difference in the technology.

The Prius uses a bigger engine and a bigger motor. It get's better gas mileage around town because it uses it's electric motor around town more than the Insight does.

And of course, the Prius seats 4, the Insight only 2.
