Bill Maher's new season.
Have you guys been watching? I do notice Maher is trying to attract a more right wing guest list. At least make the righties not so freakin boring.

The first show was pathetic. Asa Hutchinson and that blond bimbo could not even defend their positions, and they gave the impression that they were being very sheepish.

At least make it fun to yell at them. No fun, when the right wingers are so mushy.

Hope the season improves.

3. Ellison is a marvel (but don't tell him that; his ego is hardly lacking)
"The Deathbird." "A Boy and His Dog." "Shatterday." "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream." "The Whimper of Whipped Dogs." "Jefty is Five."

I could on and on.

My favorite of his pieces, oddly enough, are autobiographical in nature: his confrontations with spiteful girlfriends; his social activism in the 60's; his childhood experiences with carnies and gangs. Just delicious.

Hell, anyone who made Reagan's enemies list is tops with me.

5. Ellison deserves his ego.
All those awards, hell, he deserves the praise.

10. If memory serves, Ellison has won more awards than any living writer
Still, no one is above a feather-ruffling. Perhaps I should ask him, "where do you get your ideas?"

But then, I'd like to live beyond my twenty three years.

2. I thought the Cindy Sheehan interview was great
..on the second show, and the guests were good too.

And on that first show, DL bitching about GAS PRICES was some serious truth. He was partially doing it for laughs, but his point was that people do not give a shit about anything until it hits them in the Hummer gas budget. The lame righties just showed themselves for what they are, and BM whipped their behinds. His remark about pulling that comment out of your ass was hysterical.

But key to the whole issue is this: WHY shouldn't he have both sides on? It isn't up to HIM to carry our water--he is a libertarian who has a bit of difficulty relating to women as peers. He is certainly not "committed" to an ideology, he can change his mind on an issue as easily as any other average person.

Quite frankly, if he has more RW guests, they will tune in, and hear the other, unvarnished side, unless they stick their fingers in their ears every time a lefty starts moving his or her lips.

It's all good...

4. No, I want him to have right wing guests on.
Just more exciting ones.

Neil Bortz would be good.

PJ O'Rourke

Lakita Garth

Anybody fun, so that fur will fly.

Michael Savage would be good, but the guy would hide behind his microphone and not do it. He is a coward. Sure, he talks tough.

11. If the incompetents go on and emerge not totally shredded
...that might just embolden the RW wussies. Then you will see some blood in the sand!

BM disagrees with them vehemently, but he only insults their ideas, not them personally. I think he has an emerging formula...he does NOT let them get away with that "talk horseshit and run out the clock" technique--he makes them DEFEND, and if they can't, he slaps them. He also forces them to stay on point, and unlike the talking heads, SHAMES them when they try to shift the debate.

13. That remark in response to the Vicente Fox assertion
about Mexicans taking jobs "even blacks would not take" was funny, too. Selling oranges....!

He does know how to hoist the bs flag!
