Well folks, I knew this was coming!
I watching West Wing on Bravo and I'm not paying attention to the commercials. Then, my daughter, who's playing on the floor, asks me THE question. "So what kind of medicine is Cialis anyway?"

FUCK!

1. "I don't know"
Either that or "ask your father" are good answers.

19. I am the father
And I never say I don't know. She's 10 so she's not completely oblivious, but I had to dance around it a bit.

2. Blame it on prescription drug ads on TV and make her a little activist!
I hate seeing Rx ads on tv, regardless of what they are for.

12. I hear you there.
They spend something like 80% of their budget on friggin commercials; then, when Democrats want to enact price ceilings to control health care costs, they say, "but we need that money for research!" :grr:

17. And the research is BOGUS; they research how to make the little purple
pill a once a day pill in order to protect their patents. I remember when they researched treatments for cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

Who'd have thunk that cancer, diabetes, and heart disease would become orphan diseases?!

This is one of my pet issues, too, as I'm a longtime insulin dependent diabetic. It just frosts me so to find out that instead of researching treatment for AIDS and pushing loudly for opening stem-cell lines, they research how to make VIAGRA safer and thus moire marketable.

30. I'm sorry to hear that this affects you personally.
Though it doesn't affect me personally the way it does you, I get incredibly pissed off as well. They spend maybe 10% of their budget, at MOST, on research. All their fucking money goes into marketing shit, so people can diagnose themselves with impotence or depression and tell their doc's they need a prescription.

Oh, but let's not have any price ceilings to control the sky-rocketing health care costs, because we need money for research! What fucking bullshit. :grr:

I hope they do something right in the near future and help people like you.

Billboards, add copy, and so on. These things I find completely offensive, and unwelcome.

21. Nah, that one doesn't bother me
I don't really have a problem explaining the difference between someone who has sex and someone who doesn't, but explaining a 4 hour boner is another topic.

I'm sure you'll be able to handle it from there:evilgrin:
Seriously though, at least those Enzyte commercials are so obscure I know adults who didn't get it. You're probably going to have to come up with an answer though, because those commercials seem to be on a LOT-- and I don't watch much TV.

7. Here's a phone number!
Seriously, call them yourself and tell them your daughter saw their ad on a daytime TV show and has a question. Put them on the spot.

9. it's Janet Jackson's fault
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 06:58 PM by SlavesandBulldozers
she showed her breast and corrupted our children, which paved the way for the homo-horde to rise and take Jesus out of the schools.

Seriously though, no more medicine ads - for so many reasons. No more. Please God. How long must your people wander in this wilderness of erections, depressions, and purple-pills? When Lord when?

And the Lord spoketh: "Smite thine T.V. my brethren."
And so they did.

Ok, I'll lie to you about the next thing.

they have usually already figured it out either by themselves, or with the help of friends. I always found it better to just tell the truth and confirm what they already know.

and there were people outside the United Center handing out Cialis towels to everyone who entered the building. I just told him it was some kind of medicine.
