Which View is better?
It's all subjective, but I am stunned that a friend of mine greatly
prefers one of these views much better. I don't want to think I am
nuts, so I am putting it up to a vote here in the "lounge". Let me
know what you think of the views and be as blunt as you want to.

Which of the following views do you like better? VIEW1 or VIEW2?

VIEW1, daytime view:

VIEW2, nighttime view:

3. Night.
No comparison.

Hilly scrubland and a lovely view of a power pylon and what may be tile-roofed buildings , stretching off into a haze of what's either heat shimmer or smog...

vs

A nocturnal cityscape, ablaze with electricity and glowing neon, casting its reflection on the waters, one of the great modern wonders of our civilisation?

I'll go for the latter every time.

10. You're welcome...
judging from your response, I'm guessing your friend prefers the scrub-covered hills...no wonder you're stunned. :D

only a view of the subdivision next to my place, and that's it.

7. Yes, that is Pittsburgh
I am from Mt. Lebo originally, and always loved the view of downtown from Mount Washington.

Wasn't certain, though.

13. Your'e talking apples and prunes, here
two totally differnet photos. View 2 is the much more dramatic and appealing photo. The real test is to do a day and night photo of the same view.

19. Thanks DUers for dose of reality!
I talked to a friend today.....a friend that owns the house from VIEW1.
He was informed of the results of my little vote here on DU about which
view was better, and he was at first outraged, but then calmed down.
I told him his view is nice, but not among the best views in the country.

The VIEW2 pic, of downtown Pittsburgh from Mount Washington, was selected by USA Today as one of the best 10 views in the United States.

He still thinks his view is much much better than the VIEW2 pic, but now he knows that most people in the world don't think its anything that incredible.
