2. Forget the usual stuff. Try Aubrey's powders...I switched to them
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 08:41 PM by Gloria
and my skin is great! Aubrey's has a sampler kit which is really nice.

At first I mixed up a tone to match my complexion but than discovered I just could use the translucent and the translucent pink alone.

I use the translucent or the pink transluscent tone depending on the season--(summer, it's pink) and the rose tone for blush; powder it on and mist my skin. Great!!
The purest thing you can find. Even the other big "natural powders" aren't if you check out all the ingredients.
I use the Burt's Bees concealer on lines, above the brows, corner of the eye--but a lot of their other stuff has things that aren't really natural.

You will be surprised how great this works.

PS. I used to use Clinique, too.

Also--for skin care. Aubrey has great, NATURAL lotions which I use on my hands, etc. But, for my face...pure jojoba oil rubbed in during the day (it's not greasy, it's from a plant)...at night I put pure sesame oil on top. Jojoba is a carrier oil and the sesame oil goes right deep down. It has a natural sfp of 4, as does sesame.
I learned about jojoba from a woman in my local healthfood store--she's well into yer 70's, grew up in the sunshine on a ranch--her skin is incredible! My skin really has improved dramatically using this combo instead of all the other crap.

I also use Aubrey shampoos.

I researched all of this after sunscreen started making me itch. I got more and more turned off by the ingredients. I found a natural sunscreen out of Florida finally...it's a block with titanium oxice, spf 15 called "EnergyTan". web site on bottle is www.EnergyTan.com. Don't know if it's still up

Many of the so-called "natural" products are not natural at all...have lots of junk in them, esp. the lotions and the shampoos.
Aubrey's line is very clear and has a very large number of 100% natural products.

4. Aveda?
I have sensitive skin, and when I tried the Aveda make up didn't make me break out. They tend to use natural ingredients, and have a sensitive skin line of lotions, at least, don't know about sens. skin foundation...

Also, I use Prescriptives regularly, and it works for me.

Both are expensive compared to the stuff you can get at say Walgreens, but I pay more cause I get itchy, yucky skin just by looking at some stuff, I swear

Your mileage may vary.

5. Aveda or Body Shop
I was going to try. I don't have the skin sensitivity but my eyes always itch. I also LOVE their politics.

7. Perhaps you can stop in for a touch up
My Aveda salon will do a touch up of makeup when I get my regular cut/color. I'm sure most Aveda salons would let you try this, before you spend $20-30 on a powder product that might later not work out for you.

Although, Gloria's suggestions seem best. I'm bookmarking her suggestions, since my skin sucks, too.

6. Have you tried Bare Escentuals?
I love their stuff. It can get a bit pricey, but lasts forever. I have oily skin, and my skin never gets oily with this stuff.
