What was life like five years ago?
I remember I could drive to Florida from Pennsylvania for around 100.00. (down and back) The jobless rate in my county wasnt anywhere near as high as it is now, and no one was fighting for the burger flipping jobs. The twin towers were still here, we had some respect in the world (not everyone loved us but not everyone hated us either). Life was good, not footloose and fancy free but it was good, not like today walking on eggshells waiting for the next disaster to strike.

Are those the days we will tell our children and grandchildren about referring to them as the "good ole days"?

5. That was my freshman year of college
I remember that people had jobs lined up BEFORE they graduated. After I graduated the majority of my friends and I went for more schooling and part of the reason for that is cause we knew we would have a hard time finding a job. It took one of my friends over a year to find a job and he graduated with a GPA over 3.5 in double major of accouting and marketing. It took another friend almost 2 years to get a job in computers. He mowed a lot of lawns during that time for $8 an hour.

I graduate in Decemeber with my second bachelors degree, this time in Elementary Education. I figured that we will always need teachers, and if I don't find a job I can always sub.

6. Five years ago Clinton was steering us toward the Bridge to the 21st
Century, Gore was a more capable, forward thinking (thanks for the work that brought about the internet, Mr Gore!) VP who was ready, willing and able to take the reins and drive us deftly into that 21st Century. Then a faux "Texas cowboy" hijacked the driver's seat, his* evil old crony called "SHOTGUN!", and promptly took a hard right toward the 15th Century, burning that ever-so-carfully built Bridge to the Future to the goddamned ground.

7. Five years ago now? Stressful but good.
My husband and I were in the process of selling our home and making a cross-country move for his job. Finances were excellent, family was good, hopes were high.

And it never once crossed my mind that the Texas Village Idiot would actually get elected.

9. People were still talking about Monica Lewinsky and Shrub said he was
going to bring integrity, dignity and honor back to the White House.

That was a time for fantasy.

Today the fantasy has become an international nightmare.

10. I was just getting my drivers license
and paying like $1.00 for a gallon of gas. I also didn't worry about constant war and my future in general...in short, life was better

14. Ahhh those were the days...
Working (in IT) when I felt like it...coming home and have 5 messages for jobs on the machine...

I remember when gas went up 10 cents in one week (to like $1.40!) and I remember Big Dog getting on the TV and saying "there needs to be and investigation!" and in about 2-3 weeks the price had gone down...

Embarrassed over Monica...but I was too busy MAKING MONEY to get too upset!

I will say it loud...proud...

VIVA LA BUBBA!!!!!!
