I want to head south and help, anyone have any ideas? (I'm in DC, getting paid isn't a problem) who's taking volunteers? I don't want to be in the way, obviously.

1. Head for the Astrodome, I think.

Lots of refugees are gonna be taken there...and bring a shitload of water and food.

They just sent a group of fire and rescue people down to New Orleans, perhaps they could use your help.

4. Call your local Red Cross

They're currently looking for volunteers who can work in 9 day rotations in and around the ravaged area. Your local RC office should have info.

Oh, and sorry about the job. Losing one, especially in this economy, really sucks. At least you might be able to make some good come of it.
