Movie Question... I need your help
Someone's challanged me to find a movie and I have no idea what it is (probably because of my age, >_> ). Anyways, this movie's probably about 30 years old or so. About three hours long. And supposedly, there's a scene you can only see/understand one scene if you're under the influence of drugs.

Um... help?

1. Any more clues?
But I could say that the final scene of Close Encounters was probably better seen under the influence, although I never saw it that way. It is something of a light and sound show, and the common wisdom is that such things are best appreciated stoned.

2. I'm afraid not
But if it helps, it was for movies one might consider 'mythic'

4. I'll bet ONE MILLION DOLLARS, that they're talking about this one...
BLOW UP. With the fantastically sexy David Hemmings in the lead.
The ending was, how do you say, existential...

5. I remembered another clue!
Although many of us (college students) might not have seen it, we've probably heard of it some way or other?

6. A shabby re-take on Blow Up, named "Blow Out"
was filmed by the horrendous Brian DePalma in the 80's, starring John Travolta. Maybe this is what they are referring to.
The kept the plot, but lost the "existentialism".
It SUCKED, as do all of DePalma's "films", IMHO.

12. I remember watching that film and wondering
why in the hell anyone bothered to make it. I could see how an existential slant to the ending, like The Razor's Edge, would have helped it, but as it was, it was truly pointless to watch.

I can't say I hate all his films, but I'm always left flat, as though the film promised more than it delivered. Like The Untouchables. It was pretty enough, the scenes were shot with skill, but I kept thinking it would hit a higher level, and it never did.

7. 2001: A Space Odyssey?
Drugs might help, cause it's a mess when you're sober.

8. Personally, I think that the movie "Time Bandits" is best seen
whilst "toasted".
Terry Gilliam is best appreciated when high.

10. Wow. What shitty clues.
Your friend needs to give legitimate challenges.

That "challenge" is such amorphous bullshit.

14. "The Wizard Of Oz"
I've seen flying monkeys in lots of situations, so that scene really got to me when I was, you know, watching it with college friends and eating Pepperidge Farm Stuffing out of the bag because there was nothing else left.

They weren't monkeys, either. They were nothing but symbols of the coming Communist invasion.
