Is it better to give to United Way?

I really don't wan to give to Red Cross or Salvation Army....Any other recommendations for Humans? I am giving to the ASPCA for our furrbabies.

Their expense breakdown is impressive next to most large organized charities.

Plus, they do a whole lot with a dollar. Also, I know people who they've helped. I've never heard a bad thing about them.

8. For a start, they do not require anything in return from the people

they feed. So many foodbanks or soup kitchens require that recipients sit through sermons etc. Now I'm not saying I'm against people being fed spiritually, what I am saying is that bodies need to be fed first so people can live...

People have to eat ... we need to feed them.

11. Give directly to the charity of your choice.

The United Way has so many administrative costs it's pathetic. If you want the money give directly to your target group. I like to think of thw UW as a brownie-point system for office types. At so many places how well you work in the fund rasing drive for UW determines promotion points. That's not what charity is supposed to be about.

I wouldn't give to United Way because they still support the homophobic Boy Scouts organization.
