Two of the most wonderful pieces of music.
The C.D. I'm listening to has just reached the second of two stunningly wonderful moments on it. It is a recreation of the sort of music which would have been used in St. Mark's Venice for Easter day Mass c. 1600.

At the end of the Mass proper there is the Regina Caeli in a renaissance setting - this is a text that I love deeply, and the setting quite transports one to another world.

Then the final track is a motet Dulcis Jesu by Gabrieli - it starts off as a pretty standard motet of the time, but then, and I can't quite explain how or why, it suddenly shifts into one of the most powerful sounds (powerful though it isn't loud at all, compared with other stuff I have).

On edit: Anyone know the name of the song in the commercial for some kind of itialian food that Josh Groban sings? It's beautiful, and I want to find it!

2. No music on now.
:(

The piano tuner's here - so all we have is her bashing away at the same note for a couple of minutes waiting till it's right. It's desperately needed though, so things will be much much better in a short time. :D
