Making jambalaya for dinner! ...wish it wasn't so damn depressing.
(I bought the mix two weeks ago and only now got the stuff to cook with it. Sad timing, but...)

I'm making some Zataran's jambalaya for dinner tonight. I love Cajun/Creole food and it's depressing that the capitol for such cuisine is underwater... Zataran's headquarters (and I assume where the majority of infrastructure) is located in New Orleans, so I wonder if this tiny little box of rice mix is one of the last of its kind...

Depresison aside, it's damn delicious. I put in sliced hot sausage, chopped mushrooms, minced spanish olives, and even a bit of minced garlic (not exactly Cajun, but I'm a garlic nut). I'm even making cornbread to go with it.

I wish I could send some to the NOLA refugees. :(

But I love Zatarain's. I know, it's like comparing Hamburger Helper to goulash, but damn it, I don't care! :D

3. Damn, you're right. I gotta stock up on it before it runs out.
I'm in California and I don't know if it will be on shelves in the grocery indefinitely.

4. Zatarain's has been owned by McCormick since 2003
if necessary they could make it somewhere else, like Baltimore, if they had to.

For some reason I'm thinking the boxes with the rice already in them are made in Houston anyway.
