Tough Love vs. Spanking
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 10:34 PM by notadmblnd
Most of America's populace think it very improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control our kids when they have one of "those moments."

One that I found very effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

They usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our little car ride together. Its very effective!

I've included the photo below of one of my sessions with our son, in case you would like to use the technique.

this was sent to me in e-mail.. It was too funny not to share

2. A spanking thread is EXACTLY what is needed right now
it's a perfect time to discuss a contentious issue in a calm and rational manner...not.

Your post is hilarious, by the way!

4. Tough Love is what you do 'Only' after failing at everything else.. and
spanking doesn't work.. on children or puppies..

i was a juvenile parole officer.. what worked in the institution was Meditation.

what works in real life is never getting mad, rewarding positive behavior and being rational and centered and negotiating if necessary, teaching them to communicate, talking to them on their level alot about what they feel or think, and talking means listening.. and making simple suggestions and guiding creatively.

you can often divert them when you see the situation coming.. the delinquents i saw in the system had a poor vocabulary to describe the situation to other and themselves.. with out a word for it, they respond emotionally. i used to play the 'solve the problem game', i would ask for their advice on some simple thing in passing... and then thank them.
