I have a dilemma. Any suggestions?
The goddamn insomnia has its claws in me tonight. I'd like to go for a bicycle ride, maybe tire myself out a little (I can ride a little bit again, after not having been able to for six years, hooray).

The streets in town are pretty well lit, and I have four of those red LED strobe flashers on my bike, so I would feel pretty safe, but...

If Mrs R. wakes up and I'm not here, she'll freak, even though I'd leave her a note, because it's the middle of Saturday night, and people who have been drinking are driving, and there's the little item about how I've been hit by cars three times while riding a bicycle...

I probably shouldn't go, even though I want to, huh?

But I really want to. I hadn't been able to ride for so long, and it's so peaceful to ride at night....

1. It won't help tonight
but for future reference you could get stands for your bike, and ride it as a stationary no matter the time of day .. in your yard.

Would she be able to go back to sleep if you wakened her and let her know?....

3. No, If I told her, she'd NEVER get back to sleep. She worries
about me, even though I hurt myself bad enough doing stupid things when I was young, that I can't do those stupid things anymore. I even stay in the airplanes until they land.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

2. bars are closing in five minutes
probably not a good idea - how about instead working on the bike and getting it running nice and smooth for a ride tomorrow?

4. Already did that. Even cleaned my office. Had a drink.
Put new strings on my guitar, even though I still can't play it.

Another hour and I'm going for the Ambien Option.

7. Unfortunately, there aren't any "blocks" in this part of town;
it's pretty much sided streets that run straight off a couple of the main streets and deadend at the river or the salt marsh.

I know! Instead of the Ambien, I could try arranging all of our CDs alphabetically! That such a tedious, boring and ultimately uselles job (there's no WAY I'll ever put one of them BACK in alphabetical order after taking it out), that it'll make me doze off...

No, that won't do it either. I'll find five or six of them Ihaven't listened to in a couple of years, and out will come the headphones.

Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

6. Ah, my dear Redstone...
I am so sorry you can't sleep...

I wish I had concrete suggestions ...but I don't ....

Just go...and be careful...and don't stay out more than 30 minutes...

OK? I decided that I could make some suggestions, after all...

Because you really need to do it...and I felt your urgency through my computer screen, my friend....

Vaya con Dios....mi amigo....:loveya:

10. Well, Mr Green came up with the solution, so I'm going.
But not before responding to you; it would be rude not to.

Your intuition is right; I used to ride until my brains fell out, and it's been extremely frustrating not to be able to for the last 6 years, though nowhere NEAR as frustrating as it's been not to be able to play musical instruments (which I did a lot of, and made a good few bucks at it as well):

But I'm working on that as well. Some day, and it won't be long with a bit of luck...

Good to hear from you, as always. But I gotta go.

Make sure you have a few more drinks so when the cops stop you, you can be nive a surley....

Seriously, head to a development of the high school parking lot....

9. That's a hell of an idea. I can put the roof down, throw
my bike in the back seat, and not have to ride on the roads there and back.

Thanks a bunch. I'm outa here. I'll leave an explanatory note, and Mrs R. won't worry.
