Will New Orleans be re-built as a Disney theme park?

Condidering the mallification of the world, I always thought New Orleans susceptible to a takeover by corporate entertainment interests. These interests would clean it up, rebuild it with modern services, import national fast-food chains disguised in New Orleans architecture. McDonalds, Sbarros, TGIFridays, that kind of thing ....

All the "undesirable" people could be excluded, those that might be upsetting to the middle-American tourist experience. Condos and time-shares could be built. The levees could make it a walled and gated community.

The possibilities are really endless.

What do you think some of them might be?

Disney already has Celebration, Florida.

2. Well, isn't that the New Urbanist philosophy? New towns that look old ....

We have these New Urbanist communities here in Maryland, that attempt to create essentially a nostalgic sense of community that never really existed. Like Celbration, Florida.

They are also a developer's dream because it means charging high prices for houses on tiny lots.

And doesn't Disney already have a New Orleans-themed street in Disneyland?
