That said though, the fact you are hesitant about spending the $104 and coming to an internet message board and asking a mess of strangers for their approval kind of tells me you don't approve of the action you are considering taking.
Here's my suggestion. Wait awhile, until you can say with 100% conviction that it's ok for you to spend the money on make up. The Mary Kay dealer will be HAPPY to sell the stuff to you at a later date. I am of the opinion that one should feel good about frivolous expenditures of money, not feel guilty about it as soon as you can't return the item. Then you have a constant reminder of guilt feelings.
Another choice is to not wear make up. It's a personal choice-I used to, don't anymore, except it's fun for dress up. If you have allergies, it might be best to not cover your skin with the stuff. stick to mascara, shadow and a bit of lippy. The 'regimen' with which you are set up by a sales person is to do one thing and one thing only-to help the salesperson and Mary Kay make money and meet sales goals. No matter how friendly and nice and complimentary she is to you, SHE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. You are a wallet that has money in it for her to get from you in whatever beguiling ways she can.
Also, the comestic crap is not medicine and can irritate your skin.
Remember too, ALL cosmetics cost pennies to make. The mark up for brand name is tremendous. You are, essentially, paying Mary Kay for BEING Mary Kay, and nothing else.
