Farewell DU
The blatant criminal neglect or even intentional worsening of NO with all the countless screw-ups and criminal TREASONOUS acts are met with teeth-gnashing and fist in the pocket and some mouthy voicing, while waiting for the straw to break the dead camels back and a herdhound to lead the rebel sheeple to the way of sorta resistance. Who's waiting more for Jesus (or any other miraculous change-it-all-leader, a second chaves, whatever), the fundies or you? while writing to the claqueur congressfolks while the powers that be are DONE deepsixing due process. you are sheep argueing with the customer rather than the butcher.

no strike
no tax-strike
no "tea-parties"
no blockades
no orange revolution
not even thinking of bastille

frankly i'm losing faith that there will be anything more than vocal voicing dissent, bumper sticker wars and an occasional rally. An entire metropolis is let to be drowned in toxics their inhabitants let or locked up to die and people gnash with their teeth. i wonder what will be needed to REALLY ignite the unhappy masses. But whatever it will take, will leave little left to be retaken.

American Banana Republic has been completed.Period. I thought of some sort of the spanish CW republican volunteers joining my fellow US neighbours. But there will be nothing to join, apart from radiation assessment teams when bush is done going rampage on earth. I'll join a real resistance in Venezuela, people with balls/ovaries from bottom to top, taking a stand for each other. Not just loudmouths and dreamers waiting for a wonder. This place has no future as long as no-can-do-gov is met by no-can-do-token-resistance.

Farewell
NM :hangover:

PS: Good luck and take care all, i'll miss you

2. 2 questions - honest answer plz
do you disagree with my assessment?

do you think (not hope) resistance realities will change?

i'm just so done seeing people wait for jesusleader or a magic poll number or the last screw up of bush to resist instenad of dissent. No empire has ever been this big, no weapons deadlier, nature never more in danger...and all they do is ...dissent.

What is my point beeing there. I wanted to assist in resistance, whining around serves nothing. I was offerening a webpage (limited space but no bandwith limits) no one bothered. i was asking for ways to donate without having to pay 40 francs extra fee. no one bothered. i have no purpose here.

3. I for one did not see your offering of webpage space ...
Threads move so quickly here - its hard for everyone to see your topics . I am not popular here myself - thread I make shoot right to the bottom of the page .

And not everyone - screw that I can only speak for myself - is waiting for jesusleader or a magic poll number . If you think that you are the only that feels that way , well you are not .

6. to tell the truth I don't know
I lived in the GDR. It is tough to finally stand up. It took 40 years before the East Germans were able to rise and bring the system down. And even then we were lucky enough that the Russians were ok with it. Otherwise they would have gone against the people.
I think people in the U.S. are sick about their government, and yes, I have the feeling that there is a grassroot resistacne growing. It isn't happening on a short term.

You ask what your purpose here is? To show the people on this board that they are not alone. That we Europeans are understanding that the average American is NOT the government and the picture the government is drawing of the U.S. in the world.

9. Thank you MissHoneychurch...
...you have brought this tangent back to my mind: The importance of information from non-Americans about America. I believe that the American Democratic process REQUIRES an informed electorate. With American foreign policy having such a profound affect on the world I feel it is crucial that the world should have a direct input to that electorate. Little things, like your post here can have a stronger impact because those words come from an outside perspective. On the broader level, those same words come to us untainted by our American bias. In the not too distant future I hope we can see an open forum like this one but wholly on an international level, one with a "universal" translator. I for one would love to see the opinions of the Iraqi people or the Iranian or Afghani in regular open dialog right here in the big DU, for instance. It could and should help us shape our own opinions and in the end make for a more informed and better world. (As you are no doubt aware, we liberals are all over that better world notion).

Thanks for these inspiring words. Did you happen to catch "The Greatest Daughter" thread here in the lounge today? A different kind of inspiration can be found there. Come on back when the storm is over.

7. i did. you want to wait for her becoming old enough to resist?
delegate the obligation to restore gov-by-people to the next generation?

but i agree she inspires hope, but you can't fight with her...just for her.

i'll await the storm to START. unfortunately i can't spark it off though. looking for a more active front now.

...When this first happened, I was like you. I thought that no matter what was going to happen, Bush would win. Rove's spin would win. I agreed with those who said we were too weak, because I felt our leaders were exactly that, too weak.

When I heard the Louisiana official talk on Meet the Press, it changed my mind. He is one of many officials in the state of Louisiana who feel the same, and are beginning to state the same. I think what is going on in Louisiana, is much more than we even know. He basically said, that if FEMA interferes with communications in his parrish, they will shoot FEMA reps. There is much going on down there, and they need our full support. The reps in LA are on the front line. They've seen their family members die in this, and their friends and relatives. This thing is just beginning, and as the news spreads out, it will expand geometrically. It's easy to Wellstone a Senator or two, or Anthrax a Senator or two, but you can't do it to an entire state. These people have relatives and friends in that state, and out of that state. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Bush will be fighting this for the rest of his administration, if he lasts that long. I, myself, did not think that before, but the dynamics of this, may be beyond Rove's spin. Keep up the fight!

11. yes you are right
it's quite sheltered over here but i'm not rich. all i have to offer was a little money i can spare and the webspace. no one wanted it.

beeing no american, not beeing able to donate without losing 90% to fees and not beeing located in america has made me feel quite a superfluous third class user here. as i said i have no purpose here. all i can do is leeching news watching the world go bonkers.

so i will return my attention to my little paradise in bern, asking myself if i'd go with a warm meal dinner and supper or just with one, if wine or water shall wet my mouth. While the smoke of my joint dims any thought of the poor people catching a sunburn on the roofs of NO, waiting for supplies and a way out. I'd actually prefer having my plowshare hit the ground since we terrans are all in this somehow no matter where we are from, what each god is named or what color our skin has etc. Doing something meaningful you know. But hey Plan B(ern) is very convenient indeed, exploring hedonism, enjoying peace and all the fine things as long as they last having a pity thought now and then for the less fortunate.

:sarcasm:

10. Oh, calm down
Take a breather, NM.

This is a fight that will be going on for a long time. Yes, NO and MS are disaster areas. We are still in the clean up phases. There will be a lot of time later to discuss how it was all handled and, most importantly, why.

This debate is just getting started. But feel free to give up if that's what you want.

When you post that you're leaving...you're supposed to actually go rather than hanging around to respond to posts in your "I'm leaving" thread.

Anyway, sorry to be so blase about it but I've seen a ton of these "I'm leaving" posts...we'll see you when you come back and I promise to try not to give you too much shit about it. :hi:
