Sometimes I deliberately keep bidding on an item I don't really care if I win or not just to make some yahoo who started bidding at the last minute pay more for it. Serves them right!

3. I was bidding on a cello last night and was winning

Then someone swooped in and outbid me literally at the last second. I was so angry! But it worked out for the best; I found another cello that came with some accessories and was an even better deal and was able to get that one.

I was bidding on this real cool phone and I was top bidder for days ..... then some asshole bid on it right at the close and I lost.

7. Guys, just put in your max bid to begin with.

Bid once. Figure the maximum you want to pay for the item including shipping, and bid accordingly. If someone else gets the item, it's only because they were willing to spend more than you. Don't allow yourself to get sucked into a bidding war.
