5. Right now there isn't a whole lot we can do, but in the coming weeks

and months, she will need some help. So will some of our other DU friends. Fortunately, her boss's business seems to have been spared, so she might actually have a job to go to.

She is currently staying with her sister and brother-in-law, but thinks she will qualify for a trailer from FEMA. However, even though she is in Mississippi, she's having difficulty getting help from them. Big surprise there, right? :eyes:

Thanks, Jimmy. It's one thing for mehr to say it... another to see it.

That girl has got real spirit and character and strength. She's been so upbeat about the whole thing - no self pity, no "Oh woe is me".

My heart goes out to her.

(And when you talk to her, tell her there is an entire church here in Texas (Baptist) praying for her - I shared one of her posts with my mom and she shared it with her church.)

I cannot imagine what that would be like. I am relieved to hear that merh is okay. Still, the disorientation of having your surroundings swept away will be hard.

26. Those houses are gutted - there might be one house on the street

that can be lived in - the rest have been condemned as their structures are too weak. Some of my belongings were found in their back yards and 3 blocks over.

The tidal surge was over 30 feet! :scared:

Folks that stayed had to flee to their attics, others survived by escaping their roofs and catching boats that floated by in the waves.

Merh did say the house was totally flattened and splintered to across the street...

Saying it doesn't rightfully have the same impact as seeing the devastaion...

Now, if I'll visualise... An inviting southern style cottage with a beautiful wraparound porch, baskets festooned with red geraniums hanging between the hand turned columns supporting the roof. And, Merh, sitting in a white wicker rocking chair fanning herself.. sipping on (spiked)lemonade. hmmm... start looking for blueprints, Merh.. :)

39. That is heartbreaking devastation...but if merh and her loved ones are

safe and sound, I guess one must believe that it is not as bad as it could have been.
Having family and friends around for love and support is a blessing.
