Alex Chilton is Alive and Well
Amy Phillips from Pitchfork Media reports:
Alex Chilton, frontman for Big Star and the Box Tops, is safe and sound, according to various sources, including e-mails to Pitchfork purporting to be from friends of Chilton’s family. The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Chilton spoke to Ron Easley (his former bandmate in the Memphis punkabilly group Tav Falco’s Panther Burns) early Monday morning, who said that Chilton had been rescued by helicopter from his French Quarter home on Sunday.

Good news for fans and friends of Alex Chilton. If you're not aware of who he is, he's an extremely influential musician, "a gentleman, and a scholar". He sang "The Letter" ("... give me a ticket for an air-o-plane, ain't got time to take a fast train ..."). He was 18 at the time.

2. He lives/lived in the French Quarter
Most of the area wasn't flooded, but parts of it were isolated, like islands.

Chances are he was isolated where he was, rather than trapped on top of the house.

Still, he probably had a mighty nasty week of it.

5. Yes, great news.
"Children by the million sing for Alex Chilton when he comes ’round
They sing I’m in love. What’s that song?
I’m in love with that song." -- Replacements

7. I was thinking more along the lines of ...
NO SEX!
Not anymore
NO SEX!
Not on the floor
Can't get down
Can't even get high
Come on, Baby
Fuck me and die!

Nope, they don't write 'em like that anymore.
