http://forums.delphiforums.com/crime4/start aaack - freerepub wanna be I guess..... look at some of these horrid comments about the debit cards. Of course "they" can't be trusted to buy good things. "THEY" should just get a job. Or forced to do clean up for the $$.. oh yeah and don't let them shop at the good stores.
Anyways....... don't let on you're from here, you'd hate for any of them to follow you home... lol. But I thought maybe a good dose of DU truth might do them some good! You may have to get creative to even get on, though. The cover sheet says No flaming or Trolls allowed ---- I was told "no liberals"... (sigh) maybe someone here will have better luck!! These people are just selfish old b@st@rds.

**Oh what a mess!!!!!! As credit cards for the $2,000 aid were handed out, fights broke out as they stood in line. Everyone wanted to get to the head of the line to get theirs first.

Things are getting worse by the minute. Maybe they should call in Barney Fife to keep law and order. He could do just about as good a job IMO.
Are we surprised? That's more money than most have seen in their life!
One says.......oh I want to get my hair done!

Good morning Sue. It's all about "priorities" to some people. They consider this free money and instead of spending it on the necessities of life they are going to spend it on themselves, knowing that there is more where that came from because NO ONE is going to let ANYONE go hungry or clothsless (sp). Some of these people are no different then alot of other people who know how to "play the system", unfortuniately.

When I heard of these debit cards, my first thought was "huge mistake" They would be better off to concentrate on getting these people jobs instead of free handouts.

Well then if they are going to give them debit cards, maybe they should have them do volunteer work. I volunteered at our local food pantry for a year until the heavy lifting got to me. I suggested that some of the recipients, if able, could do some volunteer work. They said "wonderful idea" So we started asking these people to help for an hour or so when they were coming in anyways to get their food. I won't comment on the response I got, but it was very upsetting. Hospitals and especially nursing homes beg for volunteers around here. Lots of times being a volunteer leads to future employment. I have said it before "can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves"

That's exactly the problem. You've got people that are not used to this kind of money, and they have no sense of responsibility. It's stupid. Why can't they just give them credit for say Walmart on items they need?
I don't know if it is true, I havent watched much today, but my SIL said they stopped giving the cards out.
Doesnt anyone know what anyone is doing here? <g>

Why don't they hire them to help with the clean up? I'm sure there is a LOT of that to do in all three states.

I'd like to see a follow up on this to find out what they used the money for.

I think that would be hard to do, keep track of what 10,000 people spent the money on? I personally think they should have handed out vouchers for food, diapers, and clothing, and I don't mean from the "best stores in town for the clothing", I'm talking Walmart or Target. Hell, I shop there at times and if they are good enough for me they are good enough for them, lol.

Since it is my tax money, I may not want to know. I hope the majority would spend it on food and clothing, but we know there are some that will spend it on booze, cigs, drugs, TVs. That is why I feel it should have been controled to avoid that as much as possible.
