5. No
Mr KW and I went out to dinner, saw a lone anti Bush activist in a red suburb...it rocked.

20. We're in the middle of the final test of the Ashes series
It's one of the most fierce sporting rivalries (England-Australia). The series is current 2-1 to England, thus if we win or draw this test we win the Ashes for the first time in years. If Australia win then the series is drawn and they retain the Ashes.

England did quite badly being all out for 373. Australia are now 138-0. Rain has stopped play at the moment, but they're taking the covers off and getting ready to start again.

If you're interested and have a pretty quick connection point a browser at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/4232176.stm# and click on the link on the right marked ball-by-ball coverage. It's probably the most odd and idiocyncratic broadcast - the chat there is quite wonderful (if that's what you like).

23. For 5 days starting last Thursday - everything is about cricket.
We've already had British nationality passed out because of this series (I jest not).

24. Wow!
I didn't realize how popular it was! Sounds like people get into it as much as they do Soccer in other parts of the world. Are there riots and stuff during Cricket games?

25. It's more this series.
Perhaps not quite as popular as you might imagine - infact for most of the time the large majority of folk pay no attention to it at all.

However, our football team is doing pretty craply at the moment - and so those who love sport tend to latch onto anywhere else that has England doing well.

During the last rugby world-cup (which we won :bounce: ) suddenly rugby moved to the centre-stage as it was a sport in which we did well. Now we're doing well in cricket.

The other thing which a lot of people are drawn to is the lack of riots. Football, even when not rioting, can still be quite a nasty environment to be in (they have chants directed at player which run along the lines of "you're going home in an ambulance") - whereas in cricket players and spectators applaud the opposing team &c.&c.&c. basically there is an appreciation of true sportsmanship.

The nationality thing is just typical of the NewLabour government. It was revealed that one of the England team coaches had just been refused for British citizenship. He did not fulfill the requirement of having lived here for long enough - this was because he had been travelling around the world with the England team. The Home Secretary then made a great big fuss about his ability to waive that requirement, so the man (quite fairly) is getting his citizenship - but only because NewLabour like to wrap themselves with winning sportsmen in a somewhat crass attempt at populism.

It is a rare occurrence but it is not how I would choose to spend a Saturday! I won't be at a computer so I'll have to wait until evening to see how England is doing. I hope you have a nice day ahead!

30. Hey!
I don't have a scanner or a digital camera so I'm dependent on help from a colleague at work to get anywhere with this picture project. I was hoping to get them Friday but now I think it will be Monday when I explore this remote picture caching site and try inserting URLs in a post. It sounds very complicated at first but I hope to get the hang of it. After all, I learned to use the smileys! B-)

I hope work treats you well today!
