Some disgusting things my coworkers are saying about NO.
Three of my coworkers came to the conclusion that those that stayed in New Orleans deserved everything that they got. They kept calling them "those people" and saying stupid things like, "I have friends that are black but those sorts of black people disgust me" I am so horrified. I wasn't at all surprised when they later revealed they were registered republicans. I don't mean to "politicalize" the issue or "point Fingers" but that's exactly what they were doing right in front of my face while I was on the job.

1. What the fuck?
Deserved it? "Those sorts of black people"?

How the fuck did they deserve it and what the fuck are "those types of black people"?

5. Yeah....Those types of people..(you're co-workers) always....
..LOVE to get all in a tither about the "Blacks who drain our resources by getting handouts" and yet are totally "OK" when large corporations steal Billions from the American tax-payer.
(Like Halliburton)

I can't even start talking to those idiots anymore..I just get to worked-up..

6. Oh, the old, "But I have black friends!"
A sure tip-off that you are dealing with a racist.

Nobody "deserved" what happened in New Orleans. Period. People are people and your coworkers ought to be ashamed of themselves.

7. Ask them if pre-mature babies, old people in wheelchairs, and seriously
ill people in hospitals "deserved what they got". Ask them if the caretakers
who stayed behind rather than abandon babies, the sick, and the elderly
deserved it too.

The "I have black friends, but these blacks are bad" line is ancient crap.
You can bet they don't actually have any Black friends.

8. That is racist talk
and could contribute to a hostile work environment, which is actionable. If your company is large enough to have a human resources dept, I would quietly pay a visit to them and drop the dime on your stupid racist coworkers.

9. Another example
of the hatefulness and mean spiritedness of most repubs. It's a shame that compassion is not in the repub agenda. They all seem to have the view that as long as they've got theirs--everything is fine.

12. I have family that talk like that as well.
You know you are dealing with a racist when they start a sentence with "I'm not racist, but..."

And then there are people who just HAVE to bring things up about race all the time, even though there not "racist".

It's strange in the northeast, alot of people will have black friends and say stupid things behind their backs, and I feel this real disconnect that I don't feel anywhere else. It felt so different in California, there was racism and all, but you got the feeling that everyone was on the same page.

13. I hate to say it
But my own best friend said "Well they were told to get out...some of them refused to leave...what did they expect, they were given warnings" etc. She's an odd mixture of staunch liberal views and creepily neocon views (not just on this situation, but in general).
