About a segment they just aired.

My wife and I are sickened and appalled beyond words at a segment you just aired at around 9:00 pm CT on Saturday September 10th. This segment showed a group of soldiers checking door to door for survivors in New Orleans. Along the way, they encountered a small black dog who greeted them eagerly. Not only was the dog not taken by the soldiers (the reporter said they were "only allowed to take people"), they allowed this dog to drink from the toxic, poisonous water overflowing the street.
We're appalled that you showed this, and stunned that none of the CNN crew was willing to take the dog even if the military were not.
We know there are shelters now available for these animals. Further, there are many across the country ready to adopt pets that are abandoned due to the hurricane. It would have taken no effort at all for your crew to bring the dog to safety.
I can't believe how disgusted I am that you felt compelled to show this kind of animal neglect on CNN. I always thought of you as being more compassionate and less sensationalistic than your competition, but I see now that I was wrong. Shame on you.
