2. Its funny, I NEVER had a tooth removed by a dentist...
Baby teeth fell out, yes, had two cavities worked on once, one on a permanent tooth, one on a baby tooth. Wisdom teeth came in around the age of 18, hurt when cutting through, but no impacts or problems, even almost 10 years later. That is about the extent of the dental work done on me. Except for having my canine teeth filed down, didn't hurt, obviously, but they continued growing anyways, and are still as sharp as ever.

32. mine never came in, either...
and I also didn't get one last back molar, either. Never had braces, nor wisdom teeth. Have straight, even teeth. Had a slew of cavities when I was 7, then nothing. As I age, my teeth are getting a bit more sensitive to heat and cold, but so far, so good... I've had great luck with my teeth.

While my mouth was a bargain for my parents, my vision is bad and I have probably spent more these last years on freakin' saline and 'enzyme removers' and crud than my parents ever would have had I had braces or wisdom teeth.

11. I never had any wisdom teeth pulled
My only tooth removal was this year after half a tooth with a previous filling suddenly broke off and was not salvagable. I got an implant so after getting the icky one pulled out I had the joy of getting a hole drilled in my jaw and a metal rod screwed into my jawbone. I'm getting fitted for the fake tooth next week. It actually wasn't that bad, I didn't even need to take the vicodin prescription they gave me for the removal or the drilling.

14. I think it is great that we have implants now,, I lost a back tooth and
hope next year to get an implant. I don't really miss the tooth but my bite would better with it.

19. I don't miss my tooth either
but it's on the side so you can see it when I smile big and if I don't get the implant then all the other teeth will move. I also have to chew crunchy stuff on the other side of my mouth to avoid poking my gum.

17. I have mine! They arrived in my twenties,
and now, fifteen years later, they're here, chomping away, and my dentist is pretty sure that unless they start faling apart (which they might, since wisdom teeth can be brittle), I have plenty of room and they all came in straight.

THANK GOD!!

22. Two uppers left. I'm scared to get them out.
I didn't have much in the way of pain killers for the bottom two. They just kind of chiseled them out and sent me bleeding like crazy on my way. Driving like you were shot in the face down major highways and biways is a good way to get horrified attention. I got home barely okay but I stayed in bed for 3 days.

24. I really lucked out in the wisdom teeth removal department, I was
sedated and had very little pain afterward, also no swelling.

I went home and listened to Air America and played on the computer, that was AA first day on the air, March 31.

28. This was 10 years ago and no one could get off to drive me
The last thing on my mind was politics. I wanted to get home to pass out and have someone fill my prescription for painkillers before the pharmacy closed. It was extremely painful.
That surgeon was incompetent.

30. Wow, I am so sorry. My friend had so much pain afterward, hers was
sideways. I drove her and stayed with her until her mother come and stay.

A good oral surgeon makes a difference, mine was also a jaw specialist. He had a long waiting list, my Dentist got me in.

A bad dental experience never goes away.

23. Me - I have 4 of 'em and they're perfect. They've never bothered me.
I can't imagine what life would be like without them. Of course, I had 4 bicuspids removed when I had braces at 12-13, so I guess I just break even.

26. I remember, it hurts like hell.
I used Oil of Oregano from the health food store, took the pain away. I am not sure why but it does work. Also warm salt water helps a little, it's gross but helps.

I wish they had removed my wisdoms when I was a kid, instead of two permanent teeth--when I got braces. I'm kind of pissed about that...

36. I didn't have dental insurance but I did have a dental discount card.
Most dentists take one, mine saved me almost $3,000.

Just look up dental discount cards on the internet, there are several companies, the cost is very cheap maybe $10 a month for a whole family. You can use it right away, and no limits on it.

40. Each company will have a long list of dentists to pick from, and if you
have a dentist just ask what discount card they take.

I had four wisdom teeth removed with sedantion, one filling replaced, a root canal and 6 crowns for almost $5000. The bill without the discount card was a little over $8000.

My dentist just takes the discount card for x-rays, cleanings and checkups, this for just $10 a month for a whole family.

I had to go to the dentist to get an extra tooth removed. It was growing out of my gum right underneath my left incisor. Yes, I had all my adult teeth at the time. It was a serious :wtf: moment for me.
