Evita is just so sad!!!
My poor cat Evita, she lost her favorite hobby - catching songbirds from the narrow opening she could create from the billowing on the side of my window Air Conditioning.

After the death of 2 songbirds I figured out that she was pushing the billowing on the sides of the AC unit that help hold it in the window and prevent air from escaping. There is a tree near that window and birds are commonly sitting in the tree and on my window sill chirping away.

So for now, to prevent the death of anymore songbirds, I've put 2 jugs of Laundry Detergent on the windowshelf inside in front of the billowing.

Poor Evita is so lost because she can hear the birds and can probably smell them. But she can't get them. She sits on the Rocker in front of the AC unit and looks out the window.

She isn't happy right now - she wants a bird and she can't get them anymore!

1. my cat Clancy gets upset when I take lizards away from him
generally he has them cornered somewhere and I intervene and relocate the little lizards; Clancy does NOT approve of this tactic

2. Just let her get the birds.
It's their way, and you're making her sad.

5. Cats are...cats.

Can you get some feathers with the scent still on them? I used to tie parrot feathers on a string, put it on a stick and play with the neighbors' cats that way. I worried it would encourage them to attack my bird if they ever got into the house. I don't do it at the apartment complex for that reason.

Still, it might be easier on her than going "cold turkey." ;) Did you save some feathers from the casualties?

6. Lynne
I saw a commercial some time ago for videos just for cats.

Lots of flying birds.

Maybe you can google it? I forgot all the specifics.

7. No, that would make her sad
because she could see the birds but never catch them. She already has that when she looks out the window now

8. Buy some feather toys and play with her. I just played with
mine-they adore the stuff.
Does she have toys you could dangle in front of her?

10. Nope, she hates the toys
Only thing she likes is the brush.

Mind you this cat spent the first 3 years of her life living in a ferral colony. I'm not sure why I adopted her because she probably would have been returned to her colony after the rescue group fixed her up, but I'm so glad I did.

I do absolutely love her but Evita misses her wild days!

12. That's too bad. Mine go crazy when I get the darn feather
thing out. They just destroyed the last one, I got to buy more.
Feather duster works as well.

9. What if you put a bell on her?
Then she could stalk the birdies but they'd always get away. (Only drawback is the bell would drive you crazy.)

11. You answered your own question
BTW, when I'm at work I do not allow my cats in the bedroom so she doesn't have access during the week to the good bird window
