I hate when Hollywood rewrites history |

The Untouchables is on right now (on AMC)
Tho a very good, entertaining movie, it's riddled with factual errors.
Frank Nitti committed suicide -- he wasn't pushed off a roof top by Eliot Ness.
Eliot Ness and Al Capone never met face to face either.

1. Sean Connery won an Oscar for his portrayal of an Irish cop. |
|
But his Irish cop had a strangely Scottish accent! :+

4. And how many Irish cops in the 20s said "You're the man now, dog!"? |

2. Well, if you don't like when Hollywood rewrites history... |
|
Don't watch "Braveheart." Or "Gladiator."
Or most historical epics. ;)

England didn't even have coconuts in the 6th century. Sheesh. Totally inaccurate.

8. true, but it's Hollywood |
|
but, I do think the battle of Stirling would have been great if it had been accurately portrayed (i.e., with a frackin' bridge in the battle which was the frackin' key to the whole frackin' battle!)

10. no meeting up with the Mounties, either |
|
after all, there was no Prohibition in Canada... like the little DVD scroll on the bottom - Canadian audiences were laughing at the movie due to the innacuracy of the portrayal of the mounties.
