The state of Nebraska is home to the worst anti-gay marriage law in the country, invalidating everything from same-sex marriage to civil unions, domestic partnerships and an all-encompassing category called "other similar same-sex relationships." Not only that, but the language was voted into the state Constitution itself, effectively blocking same-sex couples from the legislative process.

The Nebraska suit is the first effort by the GLBT legal community to challenge one of the relatively recent anti-marriage recognition laws on constitutional grounds. Since 1996, some 37 states have passed mini-Defense of Marriage Acts (DOMAs) in order to avoid having to respect a legal gay marriage from another state. Nebraska's version, however, is considered a "Super DOMA," going far beyond the institution of marriage to pre-empt virtually any legal acknowledgment of same-sex couples.
It is unconstitutional for this to be allowed. They are letting personal bias and bigotry decide what is law. This is wrong. I am also remarkedly cool and calm - which is an outright lie because I'm furious.
