"Crash". What did you think?

The new movie, not the Egoyan feature based on the Ballard story.

I liked it, but it wasn't as tightly-written as I'd hoped, There were still a few loose ends, but perhaps that was part of the point.

Don Cheadle was excellent, as always. He's such a great actor; I hope this is the movie which will make him a household name.

Matt Dillon was good, too... who'd have seen that coming?!

2. I liked it very much

I rented the DVD yesterday. I agree, Don Cheadle was superb. As was Matt Dillon. Hell, even Sandra Bullock was good (I never thought I'd be typing those words)

A terrific film.

3. Somewhat underwhelmed

I had heard lots of good things about this film from critics and friends so I was interested in seeing the film. While "realistic" in that many of us, no matter how hard we try often fall victim to stereotyping people. So much of this movie seemed fairly predictable that I lost interest at times.

I like films like Atlman's "Shortcuts" or Lawrence Kasdan's "Grand Canyon" which are stories in which many people's lives interact in less predictable ways than in "Crash." Haggis, the writer and director, seems to be a hot property after "Million Dollar Baby," which he wrote, and I think that contributed to the hype around this film. I was, as the title says, somewhat underwhelmed though.
