Do yourself a favor and ASK them for decent painkillers. My dentist said "I'll prescribe you some painkillers" and I didn't look at the prescription 'til I got to the pharmacy...Motrin! I can buy that without their help, dammit. :(

5. Bummer!

I had the wisdom teeth taken out too. Back when i was about 23 i think. (I'm 49 now.)

It hurt my jaw more than anything else, because they have to pry the mouth open so darn far to get back there to work. In my case, they actually had to dislocate the jaw, cut out the impacted teeth (two of them at a 45 degree angle!) then put my jaw back in. Yowie, that was achey.

and yikes! your story sounds much worse than I've had to deal with so far. I still have the bottom ones to contend with, though, and I suspect they're going to be something like you describe...maybe I can just leave them alone, as they're totally impacted and not really bothering me. They look pretty crazy on the x-rays, though...

Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better already. I was getting pretty bad headaches from the teeth before, so I'm hoping that will clear up, and the pain from the extraction isn't really that bad...now I'm more irritated that I can't really eat solid food, and I'm not supposed to smoke....

8. Worked For Me!

I had regular infections from the impacted teeth and the infections drained down my throat. So, i had constant sore throats, sore jaw, and headaches, like you had. Once the teeth were gone, all that went away. For a few days, i was wondering if it was worth it, but in the long run (and i mean a few weeks, not years), it was WAY worth it.

You'll probably find the same. Short term pain for long term gain!

7. I was going through the same thing about a month ago.

The painkillers they prescribed made me sick.

Hope you have a better experience. Don't spit and don't use a straw. That's just asking for trouble. :hi:
