Poll question: Favorite deadly sin?
In case we go back to Defcon 3 again and polls quit working, here they are, per Wikipedia and Gregory the Great: lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth, anger, envy and pride. The suspense is not noticeably killing me. I would have put "voting Republican" on, which is certainly the deadliest sin, but nobody here would call it the favorite one.

5. I like lust, interspersed with sloth
the others I pretty much avoid. But sex and naps are both good things, so I'm probably OK.

8. The "deadly sins"
aren't deadly except to some smartassed pilgrim or some other megalomaniac who wanted to keep the peasants under his thumb.

Lust: he could prevent people from straying too far from the home fires, in order to maintain lawfulness;

Greed (avarice): He could prevent his people from trying to kill him and take all his wealth;

Gluttony: He could make sure that the family didn't overeat, and keep them dependent on him for additional food and supplies;

Sloth: He made sure that there were few people other than the infirm, the eldery or the very young were lying around being unproductive;

Anger: He could make sure that there was little violence, particularly to himself and his kin;

Envy: He didn't want the peasants to be comparing notes, because if they did, they might choose to overrun him;

Pride: Pride would often lead the peasantry to feel like actual human beings, and he had to nip that in the bud.

Let's face it: 7 deadly sins are nothing more than a method used to keep people from succeeding in their lives. While some blame them in some periods of history for letting things get out of control, the truth is, humans will always have these traits, and why shouldn't we celebrate them and the differences between us all, and not worry if we have an envious moment or two, or if we decide to overeat when we can? :)

12. That's so true. This list is one big guilt trip.
But Lust, while it may not be a deadly sin in my book is something I crave.

16. Actually
vanity would be the same as pride

Avarice is greed, and envy is desiring other people's goods/looks/fortune.

14. I always get the sins confused with the commandments
I was thinking "coveting" when I saw the subject line but that's a commandment, not a sin. ~sigh~ And I do so love to covet.

I've always been partial to lust and sloth myself but "voting Republican" combines everything into one tidy package.

He's just really, really girly in the form he likes the best. His original form, however, isn't so girly (I don't know if you've seen the last two episodes yet, so I won't give it away). It also doesn't help that his dub voice sounds like a woman.

30. I really only commit two of them, and lust is the best.
It's the most fun. Unfortunately, I also commit the deadly sin of sloth, and that gets me in more trouble than lust.

31. There is not such thing
as sin. Live life to the fullest. All is loved and forgiven. Father/Mother loves their children, no matter what they do.

Then again, man, if not, I would have to say LUST!! :P
